Iray decal nodes "cut off" when placed on a gen 8 character, how to fix?

If I place a mud patch on a gen 8 character, it "cuts off" meaning the full decal doesn't show up on the gen 8 character. It seems to cut off depending when it goes over a different skin texture/bodypart than which it was placed.

Anyone know a work-around to this? Thanks.

Are you talking about a true projected Iray decal? It knows no boundaries, but it does have certain limitations. The bounding space should be sized about the same as the area of interest so that the decal isn't projecting off into empty space. The default projection mode doesn't wrap around edges, you would have to rotate the decal bounding box, or rotate the projection. Ensure the bounding space intersects the surface (about half-way depth-wise) where you want the image to show. By default, the image is perpendicular to the Z-Axis, so keep that axis pointing away from the surface. It might also be clipping inside the bounds. So many parameters to play with. Then there are the projection modes, can't make heads or tails of those...

Maybe create a geoshell for the Gen 8 character and project the decal onto the geoshell instead of the character?
