Pose Preset v Shaping Preset, What's the difference

So I have a hair piece that is posed using the morph sliders, not by handles on the hair. I want to save the shape, length, etc. Do I use the save as shaping preset or pose preset?

  • So far as I know a pose preset saves joint settings ( which would include the handles). A shaping preset saves morph sliders at the settings they are at when you initiate saving the preset. In the shaping preset save dialogue you can select which morphs it should save, if you just leave the hair ticked it will save all the morphs.

You could also save as a properties preset, that dialog will list both posing and shaping dials.
However, it also allows you to save out lots of other settings you might not want to have in your preset, so you need to look at all tabs in the dialog and check and un-check what you want or don't want.

Thanks for the help! Yes, it looks like i will use both, pose preset to fit the hair prop to the head correctly and the shamping preset to apply the morph sliders.
