So, the Blog isn't connected to the usual Daz login?
Seems an odd decision.
Looks good though, scant all there just now, but it has potential, the Forums are far from ideal as a knowledge repository.
Although they can be a goldmine, you might spend half your life 'mining' them, but small nuggets are hard-won.
I don't understand why they can't just make the blog a sticky in the forums. I really hope they don't plan to remove the forums. I'm much more interested in what users are saying than a marketing controlled blog...
You and me have very different ideas of what "lawless" means, LOL
Ha! Me too. This is the most strictly moderated forum I have ever used.
Well, DAZ has made some product announcements quite frequently in the forums that were more suitable to be announced via technical press release to tech publications and to a DAZ 3D business blog so I don't think it's an oversight that there is no link to the forums.
The link to the forums is literally right to the left of the Blog link at the top header. Web design involves eliminating unneeded clutter too. To get to the blog you will see the blog link right next to the forums link.
A lack of link to the forums was probably either an oversight, or isn't there for the same reason the blog wouldn't work as a sticky in the forums: it's not primarily intended for people who are already heavy forum users. I'm willing to bet it was an oversight, though. There are a lot of places in the Daz site infrastructure that don't link back to each other in intuitive ways.
I am going to say no on that point. Forums are peer to peer in the main, ie users helping other users. The Moderators are users of Daz programs, even the strange ones like me who only use the neglected and oldest program (Bryce was first released commercially in 1994, before that there were alpha as well as beta releases if you were in the know) from the Daz stable of programs.
I understand this. However, if Daz is going to officially monitor and respond to the blog comments, then wouldn't it be easier to monitor the forums instead? Forums are designed to be places of conversation. Blog comments are designed to say "yeah, great!" and "Wooo, I don't like this." Not for any meaningful conversation. So why have the official conversation with Daz on a platform that is not designed for it, when there already is one that is?
At my work usually when we want to hear folks' thoughts about a blog and respond to them, we make a forum thread, link to it in the blog post, and then engage on the thread. That would probably be an easier way to handle it I think.
+1!
But my point was that while most of the Daz website has the same header at the top with links to both the blog and the forums, the actual blog page has a different header which currently has no link for the forums.
does this mean the you tube ads can let up now?
I’ll be interested to see how the blog turns out. I don’t have a preconceived view of how it should be or what I want to see in it, although I hope to see different styles of art showcased and different skill levels.
On becoming a PA (Published Artist): Can Daz please provide detailed and concise instruction how to make texture work in an object/props once imported in DAz Studio. The instructions did not work for me. The texture is missing even if it was placed in the correct folder.
I’d love if the blog page had the same navigation. I dislike going there and not being able to go back to the forums.
How to get started creating and selling 3D content. All of the tutorials are good but all are also greatly lacking and inadequate in their own ways.
I would REALLY love to see posts on how to use Daz while having Daz3d content installed on multiple drives. One of my biggest issues right now is that Daz has taken over my hard drive....
