Cloths trasparency

Hi guys,

probably it's a naive question, but i'm actually new to Daz.

I'm using Fawne cloths for G8F and the top it's always transparent. Not only in preview but even in a rendering. How can I avoid it?

What parameters have I to work on?

Many thanks.

  • 1. Sometimes the PA intentionally has transparent clothing ;-)

    2. Check the cutout opacity, possibly something there that can be adjusted.

2 places to check. Select that surface and then go into the surfaces pane. look in the opacity or cutout slot and see if there is a texture or if the dial is turned down a little

I know my way around a surface or two and I have that top so I thought I'd take a look. The shirt is definitely supposed to be semi transparent for some materials, check the store page images. It loads as standard as seen below. The pattern at render is being driven by a diffuse overlay but the Cutout Opacity has no texture in it and is set to 1.0, so no transparency. In the preview the belt is virtually transparent and the rest of the shirt definitely has transparency. I've checked all the parameters I can think of but can't find what's driving this behaviour.

The transparency is achieved by having a refraction weight of 0.5 set. Refraction indicates that light rays can enter and pass through the material and it is becoming partially transparent. The cloth is baically set similar to glass.

    Ciao

Thank you TD, I learn something new every day from wise people like you.

So to answer the question for lukaglb, to make this top not transparent make sure it is selected in the scene tab. Then go to the surfaces tab and for and for each of the surfaces, Belt, Shirt and Skirt scroll down to the Refraction Weight parameter and turn it to zero.

Thanks a lot guys! Now it works well

Or you can slap a shader on it. That might override the default settings.
