Animating tone mapping - can i keyframe environment settings?

I want to change the environment settings to animate lights in the scene.

could do it in post, but as i want to change the environment to get darker and compensate with the shutterspeed so the lighting changes outside and inside at a different rate can i do that?

otherwise i might as well green screen the windows and do it in post.

I just tried, and it doesn't seem like you can. It makes sense that you wouldn't be able to in DS, since the tone mapping falls under render settings, instead of being camera parameters like they probably should be.

  • If you have some knowledge of scripting you may be able to adapt the scripts here http://docs.daz3d.com/doku.php/public/software/dazstudio/4/referenceguide/scripting/api_reference/samples/start#elements to link the property to an animatable property.

With 3delight you can keyframe lights and Atmosphere props UE sphere's & skydomes as needed .

Using Iray the best you can do is use a light-blocking Pane's and manipulate the pane to move in position as to block light for the certain areas of the scene your filming to make irt appear its becomeing darker , but its just really a pane blocking light sources  not a true environment manipulation , & for Iray  environment scene&-dome or HDRi manipulation  I have always needed to do it in short scenes then blended or sliced together in a film editor for best results. its pretty easy to do if your familiar working with film editors, just change the light for every few png's in your animation sequence .so when rendering in PNG image series you stop the render during the sequence make the changes and resume the render again at the keyframe you stop at as well after you made the light change.  either way I always found it requires it being blended in a film editor.  that my way of doing it for iray anyway

In general, it needs to exist in the scene dialogue window for it to be keyframed. As Richard mentioned, if you can map it to something you might be able to.
