Does DAZ studio crash for anyone else deleting bits of genesis 8

I can safely delete bits of clothing etc with the geometry editor
but if I do it to Genesis 8 it invariably crashes to the desktop
other genesis generations are not as fussy
I want to do this for FBX exports for parts I cannot hide

Don't think you're supposed to be deleting parts of a model to begin with. Odd that studio is letting you do that. From now on don't, sounds like a bug that you're allowed in the first place. Maybe re-install? If that's not an option, still, stop deleting parts of models- just turn off their visibility and use opacity maps- opacity maps really aren't hard to make if you want to learn.
Am I missunderstanding your question?
(Not as new as I look, I've been using Daz products for over a decade. My experience with studio is limited but it looks like it has the same rules as Carrara on this subject. You can't us the posing interface to delete parts of a mesh. Independent pieces? Sure. But parts of a single mesh? No.)
I have done this since we got a geometry editor on every figure up to Genesis 8
is 8 and/or the later DAZ studio build
no, one must not under any circumstance save it
it is strictly for FBX export to other software
I know how to make opacity maps etc I have been using 3D software for including DAZ studio 10 years
I am not doing this to use in DAZ studio
I'll try and get back to you.
Like you, no problems elsewhere, but haven't so far needed to on Genesis 8.
Edit:
I thought it had crashed, but it just took a while to do.
I hide the geometry, then delete it. I've always done it that way, so if there is a different method, try hiding then deleteing.
yes they added delete without hiding so was using it, maybe I best hide first.
I mostly remove inner mouth parts etc and bits under clothing to make lower poly extra figures for iClone and UE4
Are you getting any crash error pop ups?
Might want to screen shot that if you are.
As an alternative, try saving it as a scene subset at various points in the deletion process.
I just tested this and even on genesis 8f in 4.12, it'll reload with the deleted polygons missing without futzing the original figure.
Though daz studio includes some editing tools, I'd not consider it an ideal platform to edit figures. I guess you'll have a better time with blender, that is, daz studio > fbx > blender > fbx > ue4.
I can and do use Ultimate Unwrap3D too to edit FBX just wondering why it's now so crashy in DAZ studio when previously it wasn't
I'm using latest Beta, and it is more unstable than usual for betas; I tend to use betas and rarely the current release.
