It's under Parameters. If the mesh isn't already High Resolution you can make it so under Scene-Edit-Geometry-Convert to Sub-D
people who're wondering--there's a link to the mesh grabber manual on the thread richard pointed out above.
oh ok, well according to the manual
Would reducing the falloff zone make this more spiky?
Wow, this tool will save a lot of time I think, rather than having to GoZ every little thing, can just fix some stuff right in DS. And it's very zippy, not slow like when I try stuff like weight painting. Thanks for making it.
Though from the description it seems to me this tool doesn't work for animations while the d-former does.
You can make morphs out of the mesh changes, and you can use the morphs in animations.
Yes, but Daz Studio itself only allows selecting the vertices from the default subD level, not the HD ones. And this tool too, is limited by that as well. So using mesh grabber on a HD shape only allows it to grab the standard vertices and polys, but, at least, the subD vertices and polys will still follow whatever happens to the regular vertices and polys around them.
you know what else should be a normal feature? the tens of scripts that convert stuff from g3-g8, v4->g8, etc. we gotta pay literally $100s for all these scripts.
but DAZ wants you to buy new stuff not convert it, it's lovely they allow people to make those scripts and sell them, they often go on sale,
that said I only ever bought a couple because you can still manually do it for nothing yourself one item at a time if you can be bothered too,
I would buy a script batch converting back to genesis 1 in a heartbeat though.
But you got a highpowered program free. It's up to you if you want to pay to make it even better with 3rd party add-ons
need this for dforce/dynamic cloth 11m
It is in DS, you create a clone and then autofit, it's what I do since the main developer of those converters nickles and dimes you to death with gender specific products instead of generation specific like many other PAs.
My thoughts exactly!
Install issue.
It is not showing in DIM and if i try to manually install then it does not show in Daz.
Any Ideas?
I've been trying and trying to find a way to alter DM trenchcoat, and Dformer ain't cutting it. This looks promising
Check to make sure it's not installing to an old, no longer used directory. Bitrock installers are dumb like that lol.
Can someone confirm, this is like "grab" and drag around brushes in Mudbox? Are there other tools like smooth, etc.?
It is like proportional editing as you have to select poly(s) first whereas scuplt brushes act directly
It reminds me of an old Louis C.K. skit I saw about him on an airplane with a millenial that was complaining vehemently about the flight being delayed by 20 minutes. Louis responded incredulously, "Yeah? And then what happened? Did you sit in a chair and FLY THROUGH THE AIR?!"
We complain about Daz Studio, but I try to remember that it's probably the most amazing tool of its kind, anywhere. Where would many of us be if we actually had to depend on native artistic talent, and I mean the fine motor skills aspects of it?
Has a tool that is twice as good existed in Blender (and probably other apps) for I-Don't-Know-How-Long? Yes. Would I even be invovled in 3D if it weren't for Daz? No. It may not be a game-changer, but it may be a Daz Studio game changer.
Not any more.
I know of Mac users who have gone to the dark side, and am unaware of any going the other way.
Daz is in the busines of selling content; they provide pretty decent software to use said content. Take away that income - and no development.
Does this give you the ability to smooth a zone, similar to the Soften Tool in Hexagon?
No, it does not. At least not in an automated kind of way like the soften tool.
