USB Cable

I need to add a USB Cable to my Scene. Specifically to a tail I want my character to have a USB cable for a tail

Do you know where I may be able to find this?

Thanks

  • I'm pretty sure nobody is has specifically set it up to be used as a tail, but probably an atriculated one is all you need.  There is one over at Rendo in the "Hardcore Gamers Kit".  If you search for "USB" in the martketplace you can find it.  I can't link to it directly here.  I don't see anything suitable here or I would point you to it.

    Is this like a Chobits thing?

    Anyway this is a tough one. Maclean is actually in the process of making a morphing cord, which might have a USB end, if not it might still have something that passes for one. https://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/363331/morphing-electrical-cord   But there is no ETA on that.

    Kisumo made a free electric cord prop you download now. https://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/comment/4531096/#Comment_4531096

    Another option is to consider not showing the end of the cable, and just imply that it is USB. If you are willing to do that, it would open up the possibility of using other things. Like a tail. There are some tail props that can be made black and quite thin like a USB cable. Being purpose made as tails, they can have a lot of bones so you can bend them as you wish. You could maybe attach a tiny box parented to the end that might pass as a USB connector.

  • There are a few free usb plugs at turbosquid. One looks to be a plug that you could add to whatever tail you want to use. {select the .obj files to import}

    Yes, I'm working on a pack of cables, but it won't be ready until February and will probably be released during the March Madness sale. So nothing immediate.

    On the positive side, I've already finished a cable which has 3 plugs on one end (USB-A/HDMI/Headphones) and 5 on the other end (USB-A/USB-AFemale/HDMI/Headphones/USB-B/USB-MicroB), all of which can be shown/hidden. The cable has a total of 34 morphs. The pack also has a whole collection of individual plugs - both electrical and computer - which can be added to other cables in the pack.

    In the meantime, I'd advise you to try and find a posable tail/cord/whatever, then add a plug to it.

    Nope. No USB-C or Lightning. I can't include every possible combination of plugs. Anyway, the USB cable/plugs were an extra I threw in. This is a pack of mainly electrical cables.

    The cables won't have bones due to the sheer number required to make them look decent. After my initial tests with bones, I estimate I'd need approx 100 bones per meter - that's 300 in a 3 meter cable - way too many for both me and the user.

    Have you tried parenting the plug to the last bone in the tail?
