Can Graphmate capture Powerpose adjustments?

Yesterday I started playing around with the updated Graphmate and holy cow does it make animating easy and intuitive. I'd make a tutorial for it if I didn't already have five hundred things to do first...anyway, I did notice though that if you use Powerpose to pose or edit your figure, the changes are not marked with keyframes in Graphmate. I tried setting up keyframes in advance for Head-Neck Bend, Twist, and Side-Side, then posed the head using the grouped Powerpose dot, and while the pose changes were captured at that point in time, no keyframes were created, making it impossible to adjust them in Graphmate. Is there a workaround for this?

Thanks in advance.

It is working for me.... Are you moving the main playhead down the timeline as you set new poses???

Yeah, it sets the animation changes on whatever frame the playhead is on, but no actual keyframes that can be grabbed and adjusted are being created at that location.

Hi, Have you unfolded the translation parameters on the left side to expose the keys for the bodypart being animated??(see pic)

I'm talking about Graphmate, not Keymate, sorry for any misunderstanding. Why does your interface look like something out of an 80's hacker movie?   ;)

  • Some of the properties used in PowerPose may be Aliases(A) or Other(O) properties, so you may need to enable those to see them.

OK, I am able to see keyframes in Graphmate that are generated by Powerpose when I pose individual body parts now. I guess it doesn't create them for things like the Powerpose Neck Group because that doesn't have it's own single dial; that's probably what was confusing me. Thanks for the help.

One more little thing, and it's a little difficult to explain...you know how Graphmate shows the selected parameter's graph when your cursor passes over a paramter in the Parameter panel? Is there a way to temporarily 'select' one so that it doesn't switch to a different one if your cursor passes over another one on the way to Graphmate's panel? I docked the Parameters panel right next to Graphmate to help avoid this, but occasionally it still happens.

    Thanks very much.

  • Just to be clear  -are you using Graph Mate and KeyMate or are you using the features from those plug-ins that have, with additions, been integrated in the new Timeline? I am getting a little confused and want to make sure the answers apply to what you have.

Thanks for helping, I know you're busy. I am using only the integrated Graphmate in the new Studio 4.12 betas. It says "GraphMate" on the tab though, so if there's a similar function that is hidden away or accessible from the main Timeline, I may not know about it.

  • Yes, if you open the Timeline pane in DS 4.12 and from the option menu select (Mode>)Advanced you will hve access to the Dopesheet (KeyMate) and graph (GraphMate).

Ah, THAT's what that empty space is for below the timeline! Thanks very much. However, I still cannot get any keyframes to appear in there. I'll keep working on it, but if you might know why they aren't appearing (and I have full TRSOAH on), I'd appreciate it.

EDIT: Never mind, I didn't have Monitor Parameters Pane turned on in the Advanced menu. Thanks again for all the help.

Carrie: Of course, I wrote a tutorial on how to customize DAZ Studio workspaces. I was just asking why he chose that scheme.   :)

Hey snow, Glad you got your problem sorted..... with Richard's ceasless efforts to help, Daz has actually won me over with the new 4.12 timeline (I do recommend duo monitor set up if you have the hardware) Also no offense taken!!! I LOVE high contrasts which may be why I am so physically attracted to pale Latina,Italian & Arab women with long DARK/BLACK hair..but digress. :-)

    Rob says:

To get keys for a particular property to show up in the Key Graph, you must first select the propert(y/ies) in the Name column of the Dopesheet or have the option to monitor the Parameters pane on/checked and then hover your cursor over a property in the Parameters pane. To get a property to stay visible in the Key Graph while you move your cursor over the Parameters pane, the option to monitor the Parameters pane must be off/unchecked. There is not currently an option to pin a property to the Key Graph while the monitoring mode is active; while the monitoring mode is inactive, the properties selected in the Dopesheet stay visible in the Key Graph. In the Public Build, interaction with keys in either view does not cause property selection(s) to be lost... and so serves as a type of temporary "pinning" to the Key Graph until node selection changes.

Thanks Wolf, yeah DS's animation tools are really good now. I kinda wish it could preview playback in real time, but that's a problem everyone doing any sort of animation or video editing faces. Also didn't mean anything bad about your interface, I'd go blind after a half hour of working on that but it does look very cool.   :)

Richard: Thanks, that sounds like one of Rob's explanations all right.   ;)   I'll just be careful where I move the cursor. Also neat that holding Ctrl and hovering over parameters will show multiple curves on the graph, I found that out by accident. Thanks again.
