Green tinge in Iray preview

So I broke down and picked up V8 which has introduced me to Gen8 which I never used before. Also I picked up Mega Wardrobe

here's an example of what I'm seeing I noticed, in this instance the pants uses a transparency to become shorts, in preview all the body parts shown when the transparency mix with a green tinge, like the figure crawled out of an algae covered pond. In order to remove the tinge I need to turn off the parts of the pants that are not visually being used. I saw this as well with the head when I applied the hair from the Hann-Mi set

Is this normal? did I miss a setting somewhere? I think my NVIDIA drivers are up-to-date but I'm not 100% sure. Iray is all very new to me.

my specs are below

in Iray using the Hann Mi materials that came with the figure

it does this with the tolouse hair as well.

my guess is a surface on the figure but my clicking didn't uncover anything.

When I try the default skin it's less noticable but still there.

Let me try drivers and come back later this week with results when i have time. Thanks Richard.

For the Mega Wardrobe, I'm leaning more toward the smoothing/auto follow isn't tracking as well as you might like. We've seen this lately on some hairs where the skull cap is showing when it shouldn't be. Try adding a Push Modifier with a very small offset to the pants to see if it goes away. It could be the surfaces are trying to occupy exactly the same space and Iray is confused.

Edit to add: Also check on the surface settings of the pants and try toggling "Thin Walled" on or off depending on how it's initially set. Iray can do some weird things when Thin Walled is on and you have something behind it that is using volume settings (like subsurface scattering).

This same sort of issue on hair is often resolved by selecting the skullcap for the hair and scaling it slightly so that it isn't co-existiting with the figure's head.

    Hi Johnny,

I will check into these. I have no idea what the push modifier is but thats what the internet is for.

I went from V4 to V8 overnight so lots of catching up to do.

    thanks for the advice.

Apparently preview and render ultimatley create two enitrely different results

    Preview

    Render

    Preview

    Render

Well, it's not your monitor calibration, I can see that green clearly too. Way more noticable on the legs than the forehead, but it is there. Preview and render being different is normal, the preview is more streamlined to be fast, I stopped using it altogether for checking anything but light direction, everything else I make small renders to check.

  • Same issue here.

    Solution:

    Draw Settings>Drawing>Draw Mode>

    Switch this to Photoreal.

I found mine was in Interactive and switching fixed the green

The green effect can happen if you iRay render and select one of the "Finite" options from the top menu in Environment & then select "Visualize Finite Dome" as on.
