Purple Bar Screening Process needs a little work
Don't get me wrong, I think the concept of the Purple Bar offers for people who already have all or most of the featured promo items is a great idea, and the fact that DAZ can do that shows that they're suinsg some process to look at our buying history, but lately I've been getting a lot of PBOs that make it clear that there was no analysis done on the items being offered as a substitute. Last week it was being offered 80% off theStaff Picks bundle, even though I already had all of them, so that coupon was pretty useless. Today it's being offered a free base character since I already have all of the Victorias offered in the promotion... the problem being that I already own every DAZ base character back to the Victoria One generation. Given that this is more likely to happen as the size of your collection grows, I would think that something that can't be duplicated, like a discount coupon, would make more sense as a substitute offer.... or am I the only one this keeps happening to?

Ditto!
Well, freebies are more often than not an incentive to buy stuff. Doesn't seem like you need any incentive! :)
Agreed. seems like they have most of the store already, LOL
Now say DAZ did change their process for who gets a banner, would you be in here also complaining about not getting one when others are talking about how great it is and what character to pick? Should they create a special category for those few that have everything? I honestly don't see the issue?
For me it is many base characters to choose from and picked one but I still will collect bundle. Finally, only difference is I got base character first.
Same for me. However what bothers me more... Genesis is misspelled in the text.
Except I'm not suggesting a change in the process of who gets selected for the banner. Far from it, I think that's fine. What I'm suggesting is that the alternate item selction process could stand to have a consolation prize like a $5.00 coupon to cover those of us who already have what's being offered to the wider group.
No, not all the store.... A bit over half of of it though. What I am clearing through rapidily is the DAZ originals... of the 13842 currently in the store, I own all but 3003 of them, and most of what's left is texture sets and stuff for the V4 and earlier generations.
Not to mention a grammatical error and one word typed twice, which is part of why I suspect that this process is being done at the last minute.
Nice catch. I totally overlooked that one. My mind probably auto corrected before my mouth had a chance to comment on it. I do ALOT of proofreading.
Well there was some good screening. They spotted that I had all of the Victorias in the promotion. OK they didn't spot that I also had everything they were offering as an alternative. And seeing that I already have all the figures showed me again that I buy far too much stuff here, but I've seen that before and it never makes any difference.
LOL. Don't you mean "a lot"?
It was just a test. That's all it was. Had nothing to do with me not paying attention... Or I could go with the typical writer's excuse: I did it on purpose to make sure someone was proofing my work. :)
There's also another goof...."Base Characters we we want to offer..."
I am glad to see I'm not the only one that was taught to spell "a lot" as "alot". That was before educators decided they couldn't be bothering learning how to spell English correctly and so invented all the American spellings. i'm sure they got some book sales in that sleight of hand. It must be a valid dialect somewhere though as I was taught in and the forum SW spell checker doesn't even flag it.
lot
a large number or amount; a great deal.
"there are a lot of actors in the cast"
Are you getting muddled with allot
verb: allot; 3rd person present: allots; past tense: allotted; past participle: allotted; gerund or present participle: allotting
give or apportion (something) to someone.
ps. Alot does not exist! There is no such word in the English language. If you write it this way - imagine me shouting at you "No Such Word!"
I read it as sarcasm since it was in caps... but yep, ALOT... LOL!
I have all the Victoria and all the Freebies offered, too! So none for either.
The residents of Alot would like to inform you that Alot is very much a word, thank you, and a very proper one it is. However, being a reasonable people, they took a vote and decided that the more appropriate response was to decide that was no such thing as a Chohole. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alot
Edited.
As an editor, I try not to edit before I have had my first full mug of coffee. But I caught the Genesis goof, missed all the rest. Eyes glazed at 4am.
The offer was nice, but I was a little shocked to see a blank page appear. I had all the base characters for the four generations?! Then I remembered the freebies during the early Gen8 sales. Yep, that did it. So in a way, DAZ was nice to me already.
I see your Alot and raise you a Chohole

_very nice+
Hey, don't complain to me. I'd say that you should take it up with the good people of Alot, but apparently they just bought a Chohole Gate so you probably can't get in.
The problem is I don't have Kandade, but that was not one of the offerings.
I buy the Core characters (that's Daz's official term for the numbered ones, not "base," though they didn't tell their ad copywriter copywronger) hoping for great skins, which I can't be sure of unless I can render them myself. That's why I was hoping for an alternative offer since I, too, had all of the ones offered.
+1
A troublesome word/phrase that even I get hung up on now and then and ponder which version to say/write
Compounding the problem is the phrase "a lot" meaning a parcel of ground. eg: "He bought a lot on which to build his new house." Or all together now... "The prize company allotted him a lot of building materials and a lot on which to build his new house."
and don't forget the attached Allotment garden. People in the UK are very fond of their Allotments
Although, if they're whalers, they're more interested in cachalots, and if they're fans of Monty Python, their focus would be Spamalot. Not to be a zealot about it or anything.
It's all a bit of a lottery really, isn't it
