LIE Makeup Performance Hit - Solved
Sorry if this has been posted before, but I'm not having luck finding any posts in the forum searching for "L.I.E", "LIE", "Performance Hit", "Slow Down", etc.
I've noticed that if I use any G3F or G8F character, which has L.I.E options for the makeup, and then use one in my scene then Daz Studio slows down so much when moving the character it is almost impossible to use anymore. Menus still open fine and rendering is the same speed, but any kind of xyz pose movement via the mouse, or using a slider just crawls as if the input can't keep up.
Is this a known thing and if yes, any tips on how to stop it other than starting over with the textures but not using L.I.E?
I have a Ryzen 2700x with 32gb ram, so I don't think processing power is an issue.
Any help would be appreciated!
Thanks in advance.

Is it like a certain makeup set, or any makeup set that does it?
Does it help if you change viewport preview to solid shading? (or anything not openGL/Iray-preview?). Especially if you're using Iray preview, there'll be a bunch more calculations to update the viewport at each interval as you move the character. I tend to use openGL preview but I've not noticed a slowdown with LIE (though I don't use it enough to be sure).
If you don't have an Nvidia card then it's renders on CPU and no matter how fast the CPU is it fails in compare with a GPU render.
Thanks for the suggestions. To answer;
TheKD: I doesn't seem to matter which makeup as i've tried a few different characters for both G3F and G8F. Currently, made the mistake of doing an eye liner LIE setting with G8F character Giada for Aiko 8 ( https://www.daz3d.com/fwsa-giada-for-aiko-8 )
Silent Winter: No, it seems to render fine regardless of which viewport, solid, wireframe, iray preview, etc. The slowdown seems to be contained to selecting the character, and doing any kind of posing or moving. Also, when clicking surfaces it seem to take a bit longer to apply them then it did before.
Midnight_stories: I have an nVidia 1080Ti with both preview and render to both CPU and GPU with Optix checked. I tried checking and unchecking these and it didn't seem to change anything.
Also, I should note, even though I changed the entire figure to another character's textures, and deleted everything in the Daz Temp folder, restarted Daz Studio, it still happens only when I load that same scene. If I load a different scene, it's fine again. But load my original, it slows down again.
I'm thinking of getting thread ripper with an RTX so good to know the AMD system works with the Nvidia cards !
Changed the Subject to Solved:
Looks like it's an unrelated issue, and me doing two of the same things in each render where i've used LIE makeup. The problem was actually setting a smoothing modifier on a V4 based hair which I did shortly after applying the makeup. I turned off all the smoothing modifiers across the figure and clothes and when I removed the hair, boom, everything went back to normal. Opened my other two scenes which had the same problem, noticed I had used a V4 hair with both of them too. When I removed the hair smoother on them - poof - also fixed.
So appologies, looks like user error!
When I use smoothing, I always turn "Interactive Uodate" off on the smoothing modifier. That makes things move a LOT better when editing.
