What is the difference between these two character converters?

Besides the fact that Zevo's transfers G8M in addition to G8F, what is the real difference between Zevo's new character converter and this one https://www.daz3d.com/character-converter-from-genesis-3-female-to-genesis-8-female ?

I personally have not had good experiences, mainly the quality of conversions with the RSSY converters, even returned a couple, so I pass on them now. Then there is the one figure only price plan, whereas Zevos works on both male and female. If you don't have the other one which was released awhile back, I would go with Zevos instead.

Biggest thing to me is that Zev0's product is going to produce morphs for Genesis 8 characters rather than complete characters. This gives much greater flexibility for creating or modifying your own characters. Each of the converted morphs can be applied in any value from 0 to 100. I have the RSSY converter but bought Zev0's immedaitely becuase I don't need extra characters cluttering up my content.

For example you can start with any G8F and apply 20% of Gia 7, 80% of Pix- Blaze for G3F, 40% of FWSA Cosima for Genevieve 7, etc. Can't do that with the RSSY converter.

Just checked it in DAZ, but you seem to be wrong. I used Marcius' Aran for G3F as the start and converted her to G8F. And in the parameter/Actor/People tab there now is an entry "Aran" with a slider that will apply the character to a G8F full or partial, as a mix with other characters.

That's because the entire body of that figure is a single morph, so it converts into a G8 morph that is one complete figure. However, there are also a few dozen products that don't consist of just one complete figure, but consist of many partial morphs, like Body Diversity Morphs for Genesis 3 Female(s). Just picking one of Zev0's, to remain with this same designer, but there are loads of these, some even specializing on one body part, like butts, teeth or eyebrows. With Zev0's tool, you can pick your favourite morph from any of those G3 packs, and convert it to G8 as well. Sometimes there's an exact version of that morph available for G8 already, in which case you can see this script as a moneysaver, but sometimes, morphs weren't remade for G8 (yet) for whatever reason, and then this tool is a great solution if you still want it on G8.

I'm really hoping we can get our hands on the G8->G3 conversion module soon though, as I use both generations all the time, so that would open up some neat options for me.

Will the Zevo one let you do seperate head and body morphs?

    yes

  • Zev's also converts the related morphs- the fix morphs and jcms and mcs and stuff that keep it working the way it should. it's SUPER easy to use and i'm horrible at figuring out stuff.

You can do this with RiverSoft's converter, and if the character originally had a number of morph dials you'll get them for the G8 version. When I transferred over Narkissa, for example, I got dials for the full preset, the body, the head, the vampire head, the vampire body, etc. I do this type of blending with characters originally from G3 all the time, and they work just like any other G8.

However, like Drip said, if you have morph packs with individual morphs it's probably easier to transfer them using Zev0's product. You can get them over with RS's product, but you need to basically create the character as G3 with the morphs you want and then transfer it as a character preset.
