Completely get rid of head?

Is there a way to completely get rid of the Genesis 8 model's head? I replaced my character's head with another one and just hid the G8 head, but I'm trying to export my character model for posing references, so the G8 head will reappear if I do that, and ruin everything. How can I completely get rid of it?

The Geomerty Editor Tool may be what you need, but it may distort around the 'remaning' neck area once you removed the head polygones, so be warned.

  • Could you describe exactly what the Geometry Editor Tool is and how to use it? I'm not familiar with it, but I'd like to give it a try.
  • Is there a way to keep the original Genesis 8 character model's head permanently hidden? I replaced my character's head with another one, and I just hid the G8 model's head, but when I export the character model for posing references, the G8 head reappears. Is there a way to permanently hide the head so that it doesn't reappear when I export the model?
  • In the Geometry Editor Tool, I right click in the viewport, and select Geometry Editing, and then Delete Hidden. What I had hidden was the character model's head. However, once I exited the Geometry Editor Tool, there is this strange mass or object in front of my character. Why is this here? How can I get rid of it?
  • There's not really enough information there. What is the strange mass like? Can you click on it with a posing tool, and if so what gets selected? How about if you click with the Surface Selection tool?

  • How are you exporting?

  • Merged threads - please don't post the same question twice.

  • For starters, I didn't post the same question twice. Although the differences were slight, they were indeed different. I was going to explain this on my other thread, but you closed it before I got the chance to. Also, you merged a completely different question into these. The "head is giant/crooked/hair out of place" has absolutely nothing to do with the whole Geometry Editor Tool subject, so please unmerge that part, or I literally will have to make that topic again because it's out of place and irrelevant here. I'm not trying to be rude, I'm just stating the facts. If you didn't know and it was just a misunderstanding, then I'm fine with that. I'm not quite sure what you mean by selecting it? There are a lot of different ways to select an object. I exported it as an FBX and the mass/object thing is still there. I attached a picture so you can see what it looks like.

There is a new product called "Divisible" at Renderosity that looks like it does that. At least for G8 females.

  • for FBX export you are better off clicking the eye icons in the scene list to closed for all the head parts and exporting with not hidden

I myself found using the geometry editor destroys the skinning on rigged mesh using FBX export

That image is rather too small to figure out what is happening. By selecting I mean could you click on the weird area with one of the mentioned selection tools and have something be selected, and if so what?

Two of the htreads were functionally the same and the other on the head mesh was clearly related. I will grant that the one on exporting with a visible head is somewhat different (though it still seemed to eb part of the same issue, getting the figure into another applciation via FBX) so i will separate it back out.

The two threads weren't the same. One was about hiding the head, one was about deleting the head. Those are two different things, likely to have two different methods of achieving them, therefore I made them separate questions. A question being related to another question isn't a reason to merge them, as they're two completely separate things, just being used for the same project. You say that you unmerged the threads, however the only thread of mine I see coming up here is this one I'm posting in right now called "Completely get rid of head?" Where is the other topic? I can clearly see that all of my topics are still merged into one here, and I'm not sure what to reply to... EDIT: To anyone trying to help me, please be sure to specify which topic you're referring to. Richard Haseltine merged multiple of my threads, so it's impossible for me to tell which one you're trying to reply to...
