What's in Your Download?

This past 2019 November sale was hands down the best in a few years. This could not have happened without the combined efforts of Daz and the PA's. The sales were truly remarkable and although it was a PC+ sale,  the PA offered items at ridiculous prices were not PC+ items. I am so glad I supported these artists in the past and intend to do so in the future, not just because they have generous hearts, but because they have amazing products worth the investment. I rejoined the PC+ membership because of the PA's. November has been a great download month so far. But will I say that in December? How about you? What's in your wallet download?

  • i'm suspicious why it was such a big sale . maybe theyre coming out with something that will phase out old stuff? genesis 9? maybe the industry is moving toward real time ray tracing engines like UE?

Even if that was true, there is almost always a way to at least manually convert shaders to the new render engine. I for one wouldn't mind seeing real time raytracing at all, IF it were done right.

I didn't really see it as such a big sale. I did get a few things and there were some cool new items from some of the PAs, but nothing over the top IMO.

man i would kill to have a bridge to the UE emgine, it would be more VR support which is my main focus over rendering now.

True, plus there's always a need for character creation programs. Or it would be nice if DAZ added a new render engine option that is as fast as raytracing UE.

I don't even dare dream of real time raytracing. Something faster than iray would make me very happy already. And something that doesn't drop to CPU immediately if you're running out on vram (I know there's Octane but it's expensive so not for everyone).

During this sale I had the chance to pick up a lot of older stuff. Also, iray shaders. I combined some with each other and I was blown away how good some older stuff cam look in iray with modern shaders! Geez I regret a bit that I didn't pick up more old stuff during the byob sale or the 1,99-sales ... but I will during the next sale.

Honestly, I'm not completey sure.  I bought over 2000 items and it's going to take me a bit of time to cognitively process and assimilate all that stuff into my memory.

...I have about triple that, a portion of which was not yet re-installed after the HDD crash, which is mostly older Bryce, Carrara, Poser versions and products purchased at other sites.

...and that isn't even counting my massive freebie collection.

  • Eeek!!

I had to ration myself toward the end of the month, I was into getting close to a full HDD
