Hey,
I just stumbled upon something on nvidia's website:
https://developer.nvidia.com/vmaterials
On the very bottom of the page, DAZ is listed as supported application.
I seriously don't recall seeing HUNDREDS ( :D ) od .mdl materials being built-in to DAZ, so... How does this work? Has anyone used it?

I suppose you can download then from that site you just have to sort then into the right place in your library, I havn't looked at the download though so I don't know if the folder structure is according to Daz library
Found a thread on this (since I was also curious)
https://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/166876/iray-1-3-0-vmaterial-library-for-d-s/p4
Ok, so apparently it doesn't work with DAZ versions of 4.11 and up. Shame :(
Basically it's a bunch od MDL files for use with Iray, but you need to use the ShaderMixer to get them to work.
Actually it does, that thread is using old MDL files in Iray, that's why they don't work, your link will give you the 1.6 version which works with the version of Iray in 4.12, been messing about with them all day which is how I know they work
Use these two freebies (https://sharecg.com/v/91919/gallery/21/DAZ-Studio/vMaterials-Design-v1-5-Iray-Shaders and https://www.sharecg.com/v/91698/view/21/DAZ-Studio/vMaterials-1.5-AEC-IRay-Shaders) to utilize vMaterials within DS.
deleted comment .. and the shaders.
Going by what the creator of those presets went through with the 1.3/1.4/1.5 versions of the vMaterials, I wouldn't be surprised to find some of those 1.5 presets don't work so good with the 1.6 vMaterials, bug fixes and setting changes can break anything that used the old settings.
Normally when you create a shader in the SM you have to combine multiple bricks to get the effect you are after, what these vMaterials do is combine all those bricks into one custom .MDL file, and all you the end user has to do is figure out how to get it into the SM, and how to correctly connect it up to an MDL Surface brick and a User Parameters brick, do it correctly and you have your shader.
Scroll through this post, find the one about following the "Read Me" file, then follow those steps. The vMaterial shaders don't seam to like new updates, so going from 4.10 to 4.11 then 4.12, has ment reloading everything again. It's a really nice set once you've got it working properly.
