I see we have a video tutorial on it:
https://www.daz3d.com/3d-printing--best-practices-and-approaches
It would be nice if we could print 3D images for sale the way we can print 2D images.
I have two printers, I wouldn't be providing the mesh to anybody else.

depends on how much the extra interactive license cost is i guess, at least for me.

  • If you want to discuss the licensing terms you need to open a support ticket.

    Strange.
Haven't people been discussing the EULA in other threads here?
Not only about 3D printing, as I recall.

I can't count the discussions I've read on it before 3D printng came along ... and a bunch after I bought the Game Developers License, and more discussions after the license changed fto offer interactive licenses at a lower price point (which enabled me to add some PA product specific licences which before were 2K or so for some PA's). I see how it would seem that 3D printed products would not differ from 2D printed products, as there are no scripts or code to steal (as there is in a game where the user can access data files). 3D printed items seem simply unchangeable unless you paint them. BUT although I don't own 3D printers, I know that is not the case.

Certain camera programs (I own one) could easily recreate the 3D mesh of a 3D printed object and I think that is where the geometry could be stolen and my hunch is that is why it requires an Interactive License.

You need a different license for 3D printing - https://www.daz3d.com/eula

interesting. So I guess we'll start seeing items in the store labeled as "print content" that can be used for commercial use with a new license.

I bought the GamePrint 3D Print Plugin back in Nov 2017 when it first came out for 0.00 and that is the price it is today. My understanding is you use the plugin to order 3D prints.

    Its a minefield

    what can be discussed

what you can or cannot do

I figure it is because a physical object can be scanned and moulds can be made for mass production

for your one off figurine there is gameprint at least or a personal printer

honestly you are better off grabbing carving tools and sandpaper and a block of plaster of paris if making something to mass produce!

I do have a few suggestions how 3D could aid one in that but again unsure what violates the TOS and I tend to do so too easily typing stuff

you could render out posed left right front top and bottom silhouette guides of figures like Makehuman for example to aid in your carving

Same here, but at the time that was for personal use only and thus not needing any special license for commercial use. Based on what Artini posted, it seems that items labled as "Print Content" are the only items that can be printed for commercial use. Personally I see a much larger market and want for 3d printed figures over 2D ones, so I can understand a special license of r them as opposed to what we have for 2d works.

    of course

well, I'm going to try it out ... maybe after the current 12+ hour print is completed, if I'm still awake when it completes.

Where does this exist? Is there a product that has this option?

Not yet. It's been in the EULA for some time, but it's never been offered to the best of my knowledge.
