dForce Gunslinger for Genesis 8 Male

The outfit looks nice but no guns for the gunslinger, just a empty holster?

It looks nice at first glance, but I don't think the collar of the shirt and the lapels of the jacket don't look like their real world counterparts. I feel the outside edge of the collar looks curved and too rounded. I think the lapel shape is off and they don't lay right. Plus the front bottom is rounded off and there are no sewing details that make it look like what I think a constructed garment resembles.

The shaping is, I would think, open to variation - there were a lot of different coats, from different sources, over an extended period.

All art is open to interpretation, and polite critcism. I have edited my post to clearly be a statement of opinion.

I see your subsequent remark, but I would like to run with your original. I have done a fair bit of RL re-enactment and the thing about mens' clothing is that it is very conservative and very particular to a time and place. It's hard to fake. Things like shirt collars, their shape, their angle and depth, how a waistcoat buttons, how many buttons, how high it buttons, whether the waistcoat (vest) has lapels. My personal reaction to this product is that the shirt actually has a proper generic collar. That is unusual. I have bypassed many products because the collar doesn't have a proper stand-up, or it looks like something out of Peter Pan.  I don't like the shape of the waistcoat at all. The trousers look like tights. In my mind the product suggests SCA gunfighter, or the sort of costume you might buy off ebay.

Perhaps that seems harsh, but I have money I am prepared to spend on products that are a little closer to the mark. These comments are not directed at this product in particular but to any PA that would like me to spend money on a costume that aspires to some period in history :-)

  • It suffers from the same problem as the dForce Sleuth Detective Outfit for Genesis 8 Male(s), flat unrealistic holsters that are very difficult to fit a gun in. I want to support male content, but this is very disappointing.

My thoughts exactly. I have plenty of western wear, but no quality gunbelts. When I first saw this set i was excited thinking "finally", but no joy. I even have guns, plenty of them, but no belts or holsters. This is what I am hoping for one day

You and me both. It would be great if there was a male equivalent of the Dusty HD Cowgirl Outfit for Genesis 8 Female(s). That's a great outfit, and the holsters look really good. But I doubt it would autofit across genders well.

I thought about picking that one up to try just that, but the mesh and textures didn't look so great in the promos, so i passed on it.

I really wish i could justify this price to try and get this to work in DS, but sadly it's way beyong my price range.

I agree that it does look like it has a collar band, which is nice for a change, but the shape still looks off to me.

The holster should really come with a morph to open it enough to fit a gun before simulating, if it doesn't come with one smartpropped in position.

DForce is a great tool and can give great real world looks. But if the garment isn't constructed like a real world garment and there aren't mat zones you can adjust for stiffness or pliability, it doesn't matter.
