Well done!
I just saw https://www.daz3d.com/ultrascatterpro in the fastgrab section. Would this give me an assist will filling the scene with a colony of penguins? Do I need anything else for it to work?
Yes! But you have to take some time to read the user guide and learn how to use it. It has so many capabilities.
Figures ... lol ... I'm more of a fan of instant gratification, lol ... but at this low price, it may be worth the buy and learn it when I have more time.
You can spend the time learing the tool, or you can spend the time manually placing each penguin instance. That is the trade off. You'll have to decide which is easier for you. I'd snap it up at that price, though.
Yeah ... probably right
You don't need ultrascatter. I just did this in 10 minutes. Loaded up a firstbastion winter landscape, copied the snow texture. deleted the rolling plain and added a flat plain, pasted the texture. Added the DAZ penguin. did 3 instance groups of 200 penguins each (600 penguins total) to make it a little less uniform. selected a few to turn them and give even more spacing, used the default Iray settings and rendered it in one munite with my rtx 2080
This is how humanity will end... The Penguipocalypse... Too cute to shoot, too deadly to avoid.
I was thinking the same thing ... lol ... Terrifying! I need my colony to be less structured and identical. I need varied sizes and poses.
Then you are going to have to do some of the work. You can easily turn or scale any of the instances. Was just trying to give you proof of concept, oh well.
OT but
My horrid next door neighbour reminds me of a penguin
she wears a black and white tracksuit and has blue tufted hair
Cool. You hatched it from an egg.
Here's an example UltraScatterPro penguin colony using the free penguin from MostDigitalCreations. The terrain is TerraDome 3.
All these thing are variable within UltraScatterPro.
(I added this information to my UltraScatterPro thread.)
This is a fantastic tutorial. It looks easier than Cinema 4d! I haven't tried hexagon yet. Where do you get the texures for uv mapping the model?
I suppose Opus was an exception to the "penguins don't have alot of poses rule".
This looks awesome ... now I for-sure want to buy it, now. I may be pestering you for tips/help, though.
That looks really good Barbult, very realistic to how a group would be laid out close to sea edge.
Did somebody say "instancing"?
