Getting rid of white highlights in hair?

Well, thanks to you guys I've learned a lot! :) There's another thing I'd like to know: how do I keep a jet black mane of hair black in the rendering? As it stands, the end product seems to add streaks to the hair, going from jet black to salt and pepper...probably a simple setting I'm missing, but which is it?

Thanks again y'all!

if it's not in the texture it's in a specular setting somewhere. Turn on the iray preview mode and adjust the specular settings to see which one it is and adjust.

  • It could also be seeing a light source, set not to render, through the hair - the do not render emitter setting applies only to direct view of the light, not reflections or seeing it through another surface. It could also be related to the filtering options in Render Settings. Really, we need a ToS-friendly example.

I set the Diffuse to R0.010, G0.010, B0.010, and the Glossy/Topcoat to R0.10, G0.10, B0.10, and that usually does it.

some hairs have baked in hghlights.

    eyes too

only way to be sure is to drill down into the textures folder and look at the texture image

is it  a particular product you using?
