Editing a DSA file

How do I change rotational direction for individual bones in a dsa file. I have a figure with a long tail and not all the bones move the same direction when moving the dial left or right.

  • A .dsa fiel is a plain text script file, older presets for posing etc. are in that format but not character loading files. Perhaps you could give some more details.

  • I'm trying to make the 1st Herschel Hoffmeyer T Rex use the multi pose , I have been editing the DSA file in the data folder. Multi pose now works but all the bones in the chain do not go in the same direction when I move the dial left or right. There must be a setting in the DSA that can be edited to make all the rotation the same on all dials in a chain.

  • I assume you mean the .dsf file? What do you mean by multi-pose - selecting multiple bones and then setting the slider in the Parameters pane for all at once? I'm surprised the boens in a tail don't all match, but it would be the rotation order and alignment that woudl govern that - which you can edit in DS, using the Joint Editor tool, rather than trying to hack the files.

  • Changing the rotation order has not helped so I guess I will just keep hunting.
