Daz 4.12..how much space ?
in The Commons
I have about 100 GB of space left on my C drive and was wondering how much space it requires to install Daz Studio 4.12 plus it's included content ? My intention is to install all extra content onto another external drive. Any info folks could give is gratefully appreciated. :)

The program files and anything that needs to go with the executable, like plugins and resources, will take about 1GB. The CMS cluster (which you already have, and can be moved, if you want) might take another 1 to 4 GB. Manifest Archives (for installed content) and Thumbnail Archives will take up some space, but will be almost negligible compared to the content itself, and they can also be relocated if you really need to. My library is on a second internal drive, about 1.7 TB, including 350 MB of Manifest archives. Downloads are on an external drive, with 142 MB of Thumbnails (but using 100x that because I didn't reformat from exFAT with its 1MB sectors. d'Oh!)
Any content that comes with the Studio package (i.e., Genesis (1), 2, 3, 8 Starter Essentials) can be installed on your external drive with all the other extra content. Make sure it is NTFS and not exFAT (like some of those 6 , 8, 10 TB models), or you will use up a lot of space very fast.
Note that Studio does not need to install to the C drive.
It doesn't, but some products think it does. I've had more than one occasion where something I installed using DIM showed up on my C drive even though my DS libraries are currently on my M drive and used to be on my F drive. My guess is that it was because I still have Bryce files on the C drive, but...
Anything DIM actually installs will go to its paths - soem plug-ins do insist, annoyingly, on using the default DS documents path (/Daz 3D/Studio/) for settings/registration files, so if your Documents folder is still on C: they will end there.
