No audio (Windows 10/Daz 4.12 setting/issue)?

I recently switched from Mac to PC, and am trying to get my my animation pipeline set up on this new platform. The new Daz 4.12 is great, however, I can't seem to get audio (wav files) to play after imported. I can hear them when I load and test them under the Edit/Audio import box, but there is no sound when I hit play on the timeline, even when I make an audio block. I don't seem to have any audio issues in the rest of the system applications, just in this one instance, so I assuming it is a Daz thing. Is there a setting somewhere I am missing, like, do I need to direct Daz to choose an audio device?

  • Did you get audio playback on the mac? I didn't think this was possible, I certainly don't recall a time when people were not asking about it on Windows (unless I am getting confused).

  • Yes, I have my old Mac on the desk next to me, and just imported an audio file (in Daz 4.10) doing it in just the same way, and it works fine(?)

It works for me on Windows so it must be something unique to your setup

I can create lipsync in 32bit and the audio will play in the 64bit, (scene file) saving as a duf pose however it doesn't but I can import the audio file still separately so not the issue, I do find it only plays one file though.

I can confirm that audio playback works on the Mac in 4.7, 4.9 and 4.10Beta.

  • I just tried importing audio into Daz 4.12 on my Windows 8 laptop, and it wouldn't work in either 64 or 32 bit, even in Lip Sync. To Richard Haseltine's comment, can somebody please confirm whether audio import is at all possible in Daz on Windows 10?

  • Thanks for your reply! Are you on Windows 10?

just did this to make sure

  • LOL--thanks!

I did just figure it out, tho, and I'm not sure if I should be annoyed with Daz or with myself: the trick is to NOT use the Animate 2 play button, but the Timeline button. It makes sense--kinda--but still, the animation plays in both, but the audio only plays in one(?)

Do you have two applications open that both use the sound card? If I have my music application open and I open firefox and try to play a video there won't be any sound. I have to close the music application first and then sound will play. Same thing happens if I open firefox frist and then open the music software. Even though firefox is open and not doing anything with audio, the music application still can't use the soundcard while firefox is open. Some applications take exclusive control of your soundcard. Don't know if that could be your problem or not.

I do have an external sound card. That might be a difference. But I'm sure the music software takes exclusive control of the audio while it is open. I do think I saw a setting where that could be changed though.
