Paolo's Reality???

I know I don't lurk as much as I used to and I'm getting older, but why doesn't Paolo own the forums anymore with the fast moving Reality thread?

Comments
Because the thread is lost somewhere back in the third or fourth to last page because the forums don't work right. Plus, lack of flags means a lot of the images normally posted can't be posted here until flags are working again.
And of course Paolo no longer brokers Reality at Daz3D.
Holy cow! I have missed much!
Current thread is here - http://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/289/
Hello.
I am still here and I still check the DAZ forums but things are very different after the switch to the new site.
We had a good thing going with te DAZ forums before Jun 16th. Then everything changed. The fact that I don't sell via DAZ anymore didn't change anything, at least for me. I was here till the last day before the big switch, doing what I have been doing for two years: support my products, help people with their issues and generally enjoying the renders.
Then the switch happened. At the same time I was taking a little vacation in Italy but I checked regularly. The fact is that, for a few weeks, the forums were filled with threads about problems. Many basic features of the old forums were, and still are, missing. The noise/content ratio escalated rapidly to a point to make reading these pages difficult.
Fortunately I have a situation where people can buy Reality from multiple sources so as to provide alternatives. There is another thread that has been active since before The Switch and it's getting new daily posts and renders.
So, nothing has changed, except that Reality is improving.
Things are different at DAZ and that is beyond our control. They are implementing a new corporate philosophy and I wish them good luck, of course. As Reality is tied to Studio the success of Studio means success for Reality.
What I can do is to give the same attention to the needs of the customer and keep improving Reality, which is what I'm doing as we speak.
All the best.
Thanks everyone for the replies. I am actually trying to get back into using Studio on my Mac. Seems many things have changed. Not sure my brain can take it all in.
Hey Ropeman, good to see you.
Good day to get back to Studio and Reality, a new version of Reality, 2.5, is out.
Cheers
*wide eyed* It's OUT!?? YAY!!!
OK.. off to install...well...everything...LOL
Exactly and knowing past experience, the flags are not of importance any time soon which means no images posted from me here for awhile
Besides, there is an active thread for Reality and renders here

Yes, I know this is necroing a very old thread indeed, but: Sept 26, 2019 announcement about Reality on Paolo's site.
Wow! That is very generous of Paolo to do that!
Agreed, but then again, he's a good guy. I was a devout reality user before Iray and he helped me numerous times, even sent me special builds when I couldn't get a version running. I wish him all the best in the future!!
He's a true legend. I've had several converstations with him on here, and via e-mail and DM's - a really great guy all around. I truly hope he has the utmost of success in whatever he does next. The man deserves it. He worked his butt off for his product, and more memorably, for his customers.
I'd like to take this oportunity to thank Paolo with this Reality bridge. I'm not using it anymore, but I do think, it was him opening the doors to bring gpu based PBR renderers to Poser and Daz Studio. I don't know, if we had Iray or Superfly without his Lux bridge. Maybe we would, but much later. Thx ????
Me too Mike & I and others had some great times back then. I still do like a lot of the renders still to this day
Yes, Paolo was very helpful to me too. I wish him all the best in whatever he is working on now!
I have done a few experiments where I used Poser and Reality to set up a scene, then saved the file and asets as .LXS, then opened it in a version of LuxCoreRender to render. Still do intend to try some things in the future. Wish my programming skills were not decades out of date.
Ah yeah, the good ol days huh Bob, LOL
You making feel old briother!
i thought of you the other day. I am obsessed with VR and was playing this game where I am in a room with a couple of figures and there was an option to change the world scale. Out of curiosity I changed it to where i was the size of a barbie. It was crazing being that small and seeing the other figures and the room being so huge. Reminded me of the type of renders you used to post.
I still do and thats what I always do. Thats cool not played much with VR yet im curious about possibly revisiting Reality Lux with my (now 2 1/2 yr old i7 10 core processor 1080ti) rig. Mind you 4.12 is giving me some killer speed. Turned 57 this year.....
Wow! This is both great and sad news, all rolled into one. I also feel odd that my 7 year old thread was dug up. Perhaps I should feel honored.
I am a computer programmer by trade, but have not coded in C++ for nearly 20 years. I'll take a look at the code. Who knows, maybe I can help somewhere. I really miss Reality and Lux. Can't say Iray makes any sense to me, plus I'm on a 9 year old iMac with an ATI GPU. Really sucks that Apple is deprecating OpenCL and OpenGL, but that's Tim for you.
