  • I use them all the time in 4.9 and 4.10 public beta. What's the trouble?

If it's a new Studio install you may need to install the product(s) again.

    - this product has elements that need to go in Program Files as well as the usual Content Library items. It's broken without the bits in with the program itself.

Run the Installers for Advanced Abient, Spot and Sunlight again.

I used this product in almost every render back when I was using 3DL, but I have not used it much since switching to Iray.

The problems started in DS 4.7 (or 4.8) if I recall, and although the lights main functionality still work just fine, some features were broken in this update. This light product allows you to flag certain surfaces to react to lights differently. One of the main reasons for this was to reduce the render times for hair, as rendering transmapped hair has always been very slow in 3DL. From what I recall this flagging no longer worked if done on SSS surfaces, and there could be a few other cases as well.

I remember the PA of the lights (Age of Armour) posting a few years ago that these problems were created in the new release because DAZ had changed the properties on a particular shader brick. His solution was that they change it back, but I am pretty sure that never happened. So if it safe to assume these issues have not gone away. It did lead to forum rumors that this light package was totally broken, but in reality very few users would have noticed a difference. I never noticed any problems, and it is clear that neither has Sven, as he states above.

Hmm, I'd have to test it, but I think some of the flagging options are actually broken. I use the diffuse flagging mostly and it works perfectly well. Not sure about the SSS, Garibaldi etc. Also the "don't illuminate" and "use alternative samples" are working atleast with diffuse flagging. But the AoA cameras are broken. I think the EZ volume cam and the simple fog cam are working to some degree=)

Tks for the input, now the whole think atleast makes more sense;)
