Question about Arion Braid

I like the Arion Braid for Genesis 3 and Genesis 8 Female(s): https://www.daz3d.com/arion-braid-for-genesis-3-and-genesis-8-females released today but I'm not so fond of the high part in the top back of head. It says that the hair is in parts but there's no pick of the different parts. Is there anyone who has purchased it that can show me picks of the different parts and how they look on their own. Thanks in advance for help with this, I'm always interested in Lara Croft type of hairs: a single braid, but the high part of this hair looks wrong for Lara.

  • The high part in the back of the head is the main piece. There is a filler piece which is mainly the crown and sides and a braid piece that is just the braid. I don't know if the rise at the back of the head has an adjustment. I'm still playing with the it.

Here are a couple of views of just the main piece.

I don't see anything to reduce the rise but was able to reduce it a bit with a dformer just fine.

Thank you so much for the reply! smiley ♥ Can you check if the high part can be lowered? it looks beautiful but I need it to be much lower smiley. I would be so great if I can know this, I'm thinking of buying it but I will only have use for it if this can be done. Also, how does the braid look on its own? I'm wondering if I can possibly use it with other hairs. Thanks in advance if you have the time to help me smiley.

Edit: I noticed that there's a freebie for this hair at the other site (I'm not supposed to write the name right?), Arion Braid AddOn by goldtassel, " the addon is rigged with 10 extra control bones allowing more movement and control of the look of Arion Braid Hair", I thought perhaps that gives more controll over that high part.

The high doesn't have a morph so can't be moved. It is part of the main hair but you can push it down a bit with a dFormer.

You can make the bun larger. I didn't try hiding it.

The braid by itself is just the braid and a big bald head. You could use the braid and the fillers with other hair pieces. I haven't tried that yet.

  • Thanks for the reply! ♥ I guess I can try with a dFormer, or use the braid and fillers with other hairs smiley

There is a free addon by Goldtassel: https://www.renderosity.com/mod/freestuff/arion-braid-addon/83309

Arion Braid AddOn is a separate figure to be used with Arion Braid Hair by goldtassel sold at Daz3d.com. The AddOn is rigged with 10 extra control bones allowing more movement and control of the look of Arion Braid Hair. It can be colored to blend with the hair or add in high or low lights with 2 material zones. You MUST own Arion Braid to use this Free Figure! https://www.daz3d.com/arion-braid-for-genesis-3-and-genesis-8-females

I have no idea whether this helps ...

  • Thanks for the reply! smiley I took a chance and bought the hair and I'm glad I did. I managed to lower the high part with a few dformers and that made a lot of difference. It doesn't look right to me on my Lara from the front, but from the side and back I like it so I might use it in thoose angles. Here's a quick screenshot from the viewport ( I thought I post it in case others feel the same as me about the high part) :

It looks a bit flat on top from the back, but I can just use a bit less dformers in that angle.

And I also wondered how it looks combined with other hairs, and I really love how it looks with Oot Alice hair, both hairs use the shaders that comes with the hairs, but I used another hairshader to add more highlights to the braid. I think they blend very well together, I might just play around with shaders a bit more. Here's how it looks:

I thought I post that one too incase there are some more Tomb Raider fans here who like me have troubble finding a hair for Lara smiley.

Now I just have to figure out how to save the dformers to the Arion Braid, after I added the dformer and used it it appeared as a morph slider, can that be saved to the hair?, or can I save it as a figure asset with the dformers in place?

Open the Dformers pane, and spawn morph, and then save as a morph asset, reload the hair, and there should be a slider!  ...if you have not figured it out already  wink
