Waiting waiting waiting ... it hasn;t shipped yet. Tomorrow hopefully on a 2day rapid ship.
Picked up what will hopefully be a good rendering machine. Went from -0- CUDA Cores to - 2560 -.
Had to stay at 16gig ram, but will upgrade to 32 when i save a few bucks. The same ram sells at Newegg for $75 for 16g so cheap stuff, hopefully somewhat speedy.. Reviews on this ram are all over the place ...
SSD @ 512g, wanted 1T but maybe later.
Not sure exactly what MSI 2070 Super graphics card is used. I'm sure its the cheapest possible, but none are really cheap.
It still cost me quite a bit ... $1400, but hopefully I will be happy renderer for awhile. Stock machine from Cyberpower PC ... but it was closest to what i wanted and with free shipping, otherwise the shipping and taxes kept putting me way above my budget amount.

Everything is OK (excellent) but RAM little bit low. Though most of the scene fine with 16GB RAM. If you need multiple application simultinously e.g. photoediting, text editing, software for effects, vector graphics software etc. then you should need at least 32GB RAM (my experience).
yes, for sure..I will probably upgrade that 1st. They charge $105 for upgrade to 32 ... I can buy it from Newegg for $75. $30 for DAZ stuff

Now you have a rendering Beast of your own. When I bought my Beast, I got 32GB RAM. It worked for anything and everything I tried, until I started using Catalyzer. I believe the Strand-Based hair from Daz, Garibaldi and Look At My Hair are also fairly memory intense, (based on experience not hard data,) so don't be surprised if using any of these crash DS with 16GB. (I have 16GB on this machine, and I could never keep LAMH open long enough to actually do anything before it would crash. Couldn't use Hexagon on this computer, either!)
I hope you'll think about doing what I did and keep your new computer for 2D and 3D graphics programs, then use the "old" computer for everything else. It's really nice to have no impact on other computer stuff while the fast computer is rendering.
Anyway, seeing this thread when I came online today put a big smile on my face. I'm really happy you finally got the new rig!
Lol my new computer thats being built only has 8GB of RAM and my old 980ti card
is just a Ryzen 3 3200g
I just need a properly functioning computer for now.
Hoping can upgrade it later
the one I have is much better but I no longer can mount a graphics card on it thanks to a series of terrible user hardware mishaps

It was a long time in thought and discussion. Hopefully all smooth ... I want to render some trees with my portrait. 
Awesome and congrats! When I got my 2080ti a few months back i also swapped out my main drive, so it was like having a new system.
it will be a new adventure for sure. Hope to install the new DAZ 4.12 or whatever ... and I think if there is nothing on the drive, should be able to allow DIM to install everything new ... and hopefully into the correct path, unlike my current very serious mess.

I decided to give my birds upgrades for their cages 1st and to then buy Marvelous Designer and then finally make an AMD Ryzen PC at pcpartpicker next year after those things ere done.
In case you used to install it all on the C drive or whatever, and now want to put all your assets on your new 2TB drive, be ready for some frustrating times.
1. First things first: move your user directories OFF your C: drive and onto your 2 TB drive. User folders quickly develop into a mess, taking expensive SSD space for stuff you easily forget about (like, random downloads, documents you read only once, etc..)
2. When you install DIM and Daz Studio, immediately set their paths correctly. Since you already fixed your user directories, some parts may already point to your 2TB drive by default. Other parts you'll still have to set to the proper path manually.
3. Install 1 or 2 small things through the DIM. Test them in Daz Studio. If they appear properly in your smart content (their product images will be colored instead of greyed out), then you got everything right. If not, then uninstall them again through DIM, and minutely go through all directory settings in both DIM and Daz Studio to make sure they're set correctly. Try installing them again, rinse and repeat until you get it right...
Re-installing DS onto a different computer than your old rig with a different directory structure really can be a big pain, so good luck, don't get too frustrated if you fail, there are some people here with more experience in this, so don't hesitate to ask around!
...the nice part, with the AM4 socket is you can upgrade to a newer more powerful Ryzen CPU without having to buy a new MB.
Yeah that even the 4 GB 750 Ti on my assembly machine makes things so much easier as I can work in IRay view mode without it locking up or crashing and redner proof images of characters in 1/30th the time it took on the CPU on my older system..
i forgot about having the ability to preview in iray ... wow, wonlt that be nice to actually see what the end game will be.
thanks much. i had a hard time when i first went to DS with the path structure. Reason everything went to a mess. Hopefully I can set it right the 1st time and have a lot less problem. We will see in a few days. I will have to get a lot of sleep in advance becasue it will be long hours getting everthing set up. It will be grand for sure

I just had a Hynix memory stick go bad in my laptop. So now I've gone down from 32 GB to 16GB. But it's only temporary because now I have a whole new 64 GB of Micron Ballistix coming in maybe on Tuesday. And it was less than $300, even with the gold-gilded sales tax included.
Is this a prebuilt? If not did you check the QVL for that RAM? Geil has a very bad reputation and I've never seen any of their RAM on a Ryzen Mobo QVL.
At worst it won't run at anything but the base clock of DDR4 (2133 IIRC). Remember if this isn't a prebuilt to set the XMP profile in the UEFI when you first boot.

Depends on the company. Some may not care.
When you get it, boot it, press delete repeatedly. This should get you to the UEFI, BIOS, setup screen. There should be a tab called Overclocking or the like. Look for the memory section. Select the XMP profile that shows, it may already be selected. Reboot. The system will likely reboot several times without ever getting to Windows. This is normal and nothing to worry about. Let it finish and hoppefull the RAM will operate at its full speed.

Your GeIL (Golden emperor International Ltd.) memory should be fine.
Depending on your BIOS, you may or may not have XMP options even available. If it's not there, then you can't perform the aforedescribed task and your memory is likely going to run at whatever MHz the BIOS is already set up to support. And whatever that is set to, it should be fine, as long as you're using super double-triple-dual channel, or whatever that thing is called!
For peeking at it in Windows, you could install HWINFO64 and let it tell you the settings and speed of your RAM.
Also depending on your BIOS, "del" may not get you into your BIOS setup. On some systems, it's F2. Your user guide will tell you what you need to do. Hopefully it won't involve doing the Macarena while walking like an Egyptian in a handstand and simultaneously gargling peanut butter. I hate it when I have to gargle peanut butter while inverted in my relationship to gravity...

Before setting your memory to 3,000 Hz within your QVL, do check your CPU temperatures and see how your cooler handles the standard settings. CPU temperatures *do* go up from increasing RAM speed. It's very comparable to just overclocking the CPU itself, though usually slightly less drastic. Would be a real bummer to overheat your CPU this way, as overclocking the memory yourself does void the warenty. If it's already enabled by whoever sold you that rig, then great, it's their problem then.
? Actually setting memory to the rated speed will not cause any overheating. The RAM is rated to operate at 3k and has a heat spreader that can dissipate whatever heat that produces. There will be no voltage increase on the CPU and therefore no increase of output heat. If you try and hit 3600 or higher with a 3k stick you might noticea small increase in heat on the CPU but not anything significant unless you're also overclocking the CPU.
And actually no. Enabling XMP does not void the warranty. The RAM maker advertises the chip for that speed so setting it to that speed using the profile built into the chip has no effect on warranty.
Manually adjusting the timings or other manual OC's of the RAM will void the warranty but generally speaking unless you just set one of the memory voltages crazy high there will be no damage just the computer won't successfully complete the memory training.

It's not the RAM that will develop heat problems. It's the CPU which will see an increase of 25-30% in handling the data moving around that memory space. Usually, it's still well within the limitations of what the default AMD cooler can handle, but it's not something to just ignore either. And the benefit? Marginal.
No, it won't. There is no voltage increase on the CPU. The voltage increase is on the RAM. With no extra volatage the CPU cannot produce more heat.
it is really simple if you become familiar with symbolic links
for example daz and other programs believe they are in normal areas, when in fact there folders can reside on a 2nd drive.etc
i use it all the time, not just for daz but for internet cache,steam,etc
