Pilot's Uniform

I'm considering picking up the Pilot's Uniform and texture set; anyone else already got it?

Looks good (especially as it includes harnesses and both G8F and G8M wearables), and I really need some good flying kit to go with all the planes I have, but this outfit just strikes me as too chilly to wear for flying — no gloves, lightweight overalls and boots. I can't think of seeing any period photos where the pilot isn't wearing a much warmer and better insulated outfit. Opinions?

Agreed. I am happy we have this, don't get me wrong, but it's more suited for the Pacific theatre than the European front. You mioght be able to kitbash it with this outfit https://www.daz3d.com/dforce-retro-aviator-outfit-for-genesis-8-males

I had a look at it, as I thought about buying it, but several things made me not

    • it doesn't really resemble the historically used flightsuits of the different nations it's supposed to display. US, german and japanese pilots wore quite different looking outfits...
    • the unit "markers" - here: colourful pictures on the back of the suits - weren't used like that for - afaik - at least the german and japanese air units
    • the flag used on the german pilot suit shows the german flag used only after WWII. Sure, the original one with the swastika might be a bit too much... but from several pictures I've seen on the web it doesn't even look like the german pilot suits even HAD a flag shown anywhere on them...

Yeah, during those days, you'd see variations on the Blutfahne on German military uniforms including those of Luftwaffe and not the modern Black-Red-Gold we're familiar with today.  I don't think you'd see anything completely without a swastika though.  Luftwaffe patches were usually an eagle carrying a swastika.  The German flag a reasonable compromise, I think.

But then again, you didn't see integrated U.S. battalions like the promos show either.  And are pilot uniforms really complete without a lined bomber jacket?  It gets cold up there.

    Also tagging.

I haven't bought it, but I saw it when it first came out. Now I look at it and think I love the boots and could use them for a lot current scenarios, and the pants might could be used with period boots and a sort of Gaston Phoebus tunic for a villager or huntsman. Yes. Kitbash-able.

    RE: Pilots Uniform of WWII

    I bought it straight away.
I remember when DarkEdgeDesign's promos had figures wearing these and a lot of us were begging for the uniform.  Well, here they are!

    Thanks DarkEdgeDesign!!
