DAZ Install Manager Download Problem

What's the thing with the last few updates of the DIM?

For some unknown reason, when I am using it to download some large files, it does not want to get it all in one go! If I let it keep going to get files that are 150 MB or more, it will quit before it finishes the download, and the message in the download button is "Download Failed"! That was not so bad a few years back, because it would save what it had already got of the file, and allow a resume of the download where it stopped. Now though, when I get that message, the download resets to 0%! As large files take a lot of time to download, even at the speed possible using the DIM, it becomes quite frustrating to lose what was already downloaded of the file, and have to start from 0% all over again! It wastes away my time! If this is something to do with the way the latest upgrades were programmed, I want to know why!

I know there is a built in download system included with DAZ Studio's latest upgrades called DAZ Connect, but really, it is not as good as the DIM at download speeds, and if a download fails using DAZ Connect, you have to start from the beginning again to get the file you want. Not only that, DAZ Connect must run a download from start to finish all in one go; meaning you cannot pause a download to be resumed later, like you can using the DIM. At least when I manage a download using the DIM by pausing it to resume later, it saves the part of the file that has already been downloaded. I can even close the DIM, and open it days later and resume the download. But if a file is stoppped for any reason other than me pausing it, what has already been downloaded is lost!

It seems counterproductive to take the ability of the DIM to save the part of a file already downloaded away, if the download is interrupted by something other than myself!

So here are some questions concerning this problem:

1. Why is the DIM acting so differently from the way it orginally did when a download fails?

2. Did the saving of percentage of a file when a download fails get written out of the programming?

3. Is there a way to fix this problem?

4. Are there any other users of the DIM having this same problem?

Let me know something concerning these questions; especially if there is a way to fix this that I can do myself. If there is a way, I would like getting step by step instructions on how to proceed.

Thank you,

Mage 13x13.

    You should contact CS.

By the way I have the same problem and trying to solve it with their help. That may help them solve it if you contact them.

If you mean the Help Desk, I will do so ASAP. I'm a bit foggy on what CS means, so perhaps you could clarify that for me.

Incidentally I am checking to see what my versi0on of the DIM is, to see if it is up to date. Usually when a new update is up, I get a notification in the DIM itself, and to continue being able to use it, I have to allow it to download and install. I just noticed that a new thread has been started saying a new version is available, so I need to check my version to see if I have it already or not.

    Cheers!

    Edited to say:

I just checked and my version is up to date, so that is definitely not the problem. My version is 1.2.0.27, same as the one in the announcement thread of The Commons section of this Forum.
