Piracy & New PAs

I am not a vendor here (yet) but as a courtesy I'm going to copy this over from what I wrote over at the site I sell at. One of my customers contacted me and supplied me with a url of what I now see to be a dominant site for pirating Daz content (sorry if i'm late to the party but at least I arrived in style). The url had - you guessed it - one of my latest products being offered for the lump sum of $0.00.

Well, I'm almost certain this is a topic that has been beat to down to the smallest atom.

So, I did what I am sure was the only thing to do and if you are another vendor out there with the same issue - here's what you can do.

If it's Mega

Fill out this short form here because in my case my product was being offered up via Mega. Additionally send an email to [email protected]

What I would suggest is that you (the vendor) create an email template that you can copy/paste for other instances of this occurring. That way you when you come across this you can tend to it effectively and quickly by copying and pasting.

Here's an example of the email I sent:

The email's subject should be simple and assertive like "URL Takedown Notice"

I am the owner of the product that is found via this link:

INFRINGING URL HERE

That link is offering my product for free on a piracy website .

My product can be found here:

YOUR PRODUCT URL

I am YOUR NAME aka YOUR VENDOR NAME the creator of that product.

Please remove the file and the url from Mega.

If it's Mediafire fill out this form here and email them at [email protected]

If it's GoogleDrive fill out this form here

This is something you can do everyday over a cup of coffee, 5mins. It's your time, your talent being given away for free. Now, really this is feasible for new PAs. Imagine PAs that have been doing selling for years - digging through all those pages might not equate to the best time = money output.

Like I said though, if you are a new PA/Vendor then this is something that IS feasible and takes little time to monitor.

Get your morning coffee, hit that site up and search for your most recent products during it's first month's release. Visit the links above and quickly fill out the forms and boom, done.

Peace,

Parallax

Sorry to hear about that, been there myself many times. Thanks for the info, hoipefully the mods will leave this thread up. Fortunately one of the perks of being a PA here is DAZ having your back. Even as a customer I have reported pirated DAZ assets quite a few times to CS and they usually seem to get taken down.

Be prepared for the "it's not my problem" or "you didn't really lose a sale" garbage from those that don't create and are never directly affected.

I know of the site you speak, because it'll come up on Google searchs when I'm looking for a vendor's product.

Although I spend way too much money on DAZ, I can't bring myself to steal someone's hard-earned money. It's so wrong.

The fact it comes up as a result is a slap to face. Crazy.

Come to think of it Google should have a flagging system in which when a site collects a certain amount of copyright hits their presence in the results is suspended or something similar. But ofc it would have to be verified because Youtubers get so many false claims that it could potentially hinder non offending sites.

Thanks, and I noticed that particular site had something of a motto of "art should be free". Talk about reaching for a justification.
