I don’t honestly know why Roderick’s eyelashes require it. All I did was download it in dim and clicked the character icon. I never owned jeroyn.

I am honestly not too enamored  with the character anyway. It is scene heavy so if support doesn’t get back to me I’ll just return it. Glad it works for you though.

I'm not sure what you mean by "scene heavy." The SBH version loads all the hair objects and those objects have the option set that allows the hair to be rendered in the Iray preview mode. Selecting all of those and then switching the Preview PR Hairs to Off may help in the Viewport. You might want to also set Visible in Viewport to off, as it can be distracting to see guide hairs over 85% of his body! lol

But the figure without the hair objects doesn't seem any more taxing on the viewport than other figures I've loaded.

For me, he renders slower than comparative characters. Interestingly, the base figure without the hair, does not throw the darwin error. Only the one with the full hair preset does.

After I saw your post, L'Adair, I tried loading just Genesis 8 base and it said it loaded with errors and it appears to me that they are the same syntac errors.

But I wasn't getting the pop up that said that the figure loaded with errors and to check the log until I installed the products that came with Diego and after. Can't say for sure if there were errors because I never checked the log. But I'm sure there was no pop up until the last couple of days.

I had really high hopes for Deigo and Gabrialla, so when they each finally arrived I was left rather dissapointed. However, I do really like the outfits, Carlos hair, and all of the character add ons for Deigo. Gabrialla is also a good figure with a lot of nice clothes and addons, but she arrived at a bad time for me, so I didn't pick her up.  I was going to pass on Deigo and wait to pick up my favorites from his release one at a time  during other sells in the future. (already excited for black friday) However the combination of getting gift cards 10% off combined with the 2 items from the ambassador sell giving me an additional 20% off my cart, I gave in and got the bundle, 4 add ons, and a few other items from the artists sells.

So far I really do like how he's looking in Daz and I'm expermenting with Deigo using various skins textures to see him capture the many shades of Latinos. Hope to be able to share them soon.

Also hoping to see more pictures by others in this thread.

  • I'm a bit confused.  Will the Great Morphs for Diego 8 work with any Genesis 8, or must I own Diego?  Thanks!

They will look different without Diego.

  • You know what would be good? A wrasslin' setup. Luchador masks would be a good thing. Maybe this can be rigged up with the various superhero sets.

Traditional bullfighter outfits are closely related to the older pre-Beau Brummell forms of male formal wear. If you need to dress a vaguely swashbuckley guy from the "Powder and Patch" era in Europe or the "Zorro" era in Latin America*, the new bullfighter outfit (minus the hat and shoulderpads) is a good starting point, no matter how you feel about bullfighting proper. This is a VERY underrepresented timeframe in men's wear: I can count the pre-existing options from the M3 era to the Genesis 2 era (that I know of) on the fingers of one hand.

*Please note that these are pop culture references to the eras in question; Powder and Patch was an early novel by Georgette Heyer, set in the Georgian era in England, and I would guess that most people on this thread know about Zorro.

Reposting this for the benefit of the people downvoting the matador outfit. The fact that you don't need clothes from the era that inspired those costumes, and (along with, I would guess, most of the rest of us) disapprove of the bloodsport it's based on, doesn't mean there isn't a need for clothing in this style.

I add to this that the Matador Outfit---with the usual exceptions of the collar and tie---and its associated textures are exquisitely made! That alone made them worth the trouble imo.

Agreed...the outfit is beautiful. I don't know what I'm gonna use it for, but it's really nice. LOL. Definitely won't be doing any bullfight images tho.

I'm not seeing any of the errors you're getting, @KevinH. I really think this is something for Tech Support to help you with. If you want to do some troubleshooting and use DIM, you can easily uninstall the products you bought with Diego, and try loading the base figure again. Do you still see those errors? If not, try reinstalling products one at a time, and loading the base figure after each install. (This is a bit of work. You need to close Daz Studio, Install a product, open Daz Studio and test.)

If you use Connect, I think you can uninstall and reinstall without having to shut DS down for the information to update correctly.

Any information you find will help Tech Support help you.

He looks a bit more Native American Latino if you add a little bit of epicanthic eye folds to his eyes (not 100%), pull the outer corners down (and I don't mean to angle the eyes) and make the upper lids larger again (because the epicanthic eyefold will cover the upper lid too much). Dogz/Zev0 200 Plus Head and Face morphs for G8M will have all the morphs to do this I believe. You'll have to darken the skin too of course. It also helps to make the face a bit rounder as well. I've seen few Native Americans that have a long thin face....mostly more heart shaped and/or round.

Wow! That sure was a short sale....and I am still waiting for my paycheck. This is why the guys characters don't sell as well. Now I will have to wait until it hits some other sale. That is one thing I like about some of the other sites, everything has a count down clock, I knew the coupons would be gone but didn't know the Diego 8 pro sale would be gone too....very sad.

I've got to agree.  I was away from Wednesday last week until today.  I did see Diego on my phone, but it's nbot good enough to browse or buy on.  Got back today expecting to see and offer on the Pro pack but nothing.  Yet we will still get the usual "male characters don't sell as well" from Daz.

I would have though at least one week would be a good time before they pull the sale offers.  Looks like I will be missing this one until there is a good deal on it.

  • The PA Sale coupon works for him instead.

Thank you for pointing that out, but I'm fairly certain that it isn't the same saving as regards add-on items or a certain amount of items free that is usually part of a pro bundle launch.  I'm very disappointed in Daz over this and the fact that it's not the first time that this has been done with a male figure.

I'm so sad Diego only had a 4 day sale instead of the full 14 days. I was afread he was only going to get 1 week, since Daz seems bent on only doing a really great sale for male characters if they are limited to 1 week, but they didn't even give him that much time. Sorry you missed out, I just barely got him yesterday.

Some nice advice, but I find your comment about most Native Americans having round faces amuzing. While I've seen round and heart shaped faces, my first thought of Native Americans is more oblong and square face shaped. If you look up native actors IMDB has a nice list and the pictures show a variety of face shapes. https://www.imdb.com/list/ls036256818/?ref_=nm_bio_rls_4

So I made a little gallery folder of my experments with Diego so far, but I'm only going to post my favorites on here. Diego out of the box shape with his own skin textures, cruz textures, Emil textures eyebrows and mustache, Jasper, PRX ohanzi (a PA character for g8m that is inspired by a native american actor), and Vladimir with scars. I think I did a total of 10 of these pictures and I really liked how most of them turned out.

Same here, except I didn't get anything. I just emptied my entire cart but hey, saved me a hundred bucks. Was going to buy today since I didn't have computer access all weekend. Oh well, I have better things to worry about. :-)

I can’t believe this offer was only a few days. Normally we get two weeks. I was camping for 4 days with no access to internet. I was so tired last night, I didn’t get a chance to purchase. I won’t be buying the bundle

Ditto. I was going to buy the bundle today, but realized the offer was gone. So I emptied my cart. Would've been nice if his offer lasted as long as most (if not all) female bundles lasted. But oh well, there's always another sale!

Well, we all know "Male characters don't sell as well as femlae ones". Maybe that is why ???

As others have pointed out, a number of people here have limited Daz budgets, and often have to wait for paychecks and such to replenish their Daz allotment.

So while I personally was able to move on the Diego 8 sale, I do agree that the Diego sale purple banner offers were too short.  The Diego 8 bundle is a pretty good bundle IMHO, and it should have been given similar consideration timeline wise as other pro bundles.

I do get that they cut things short for the Premier Artist sale, but I think that the Daz sales team could have found a way to keep most of the Diego related purple banner offers intact for a while longer.  The 10% off bundle offer didn't affect any other sales, the freebies offer would still be free, so the only ones that might have needed tweaking were the %off these items.  But of course, for at least one of those, the only items allowed in the cart were the 3 associated sale items, anything else in the cart broke that sale, so that might not have been a biggie either.

Anyways, yeah I do agree that some of the offers aren't helpful to people with limited daz budgets timeline wise.  I was in that position for the first couple of years I shopped here, and I missed out on a lot of offers 'cuz my Daz allotment was zeroed out. Some may say 'that's the way the cookie crumbles'.  But there are some pretty regular customers here that have shopped with Daz for a long time that still face tight budget constraints.

As for male characters selling less, well that doesn't mean that they aren't selling.  So letting an offer run for a longer period just encourages more people to buy said maile character bundles.  It's literally no extra effort to let an offer run for two weeks instead of 4 days, and you may end up with more people buying the product, once they get their next paycheck and such.

But the sales team doesn't read these posts anyways, so I'm probably wasting my time.  Just noting that I concur with the sentiments expressed by a few people that 'missed out' on the Diego sales.

I was specifically referring to the Central Americas native peoples whose faces tend to be rounder and heart shaped. Those more north do tend to be more square. :).

Also, I don't look to actors for that sort of thing. Actors tend to have looks that are idealized and never what I'm looking for ;). Their looks aren't usually  the norm like any other actor's looks aren't the norm...lol. There are always exceptions to everything, of course ;).

The link still works, but can’t test if the sale still works because I have other things in my cart... (And I’m not purchasing now anyway.)

Thanks for posting.  Just tried Diego pro and 4 add on items - no extra discount.

  • Yes, I had my cart full and ready to go for when my check came. When I got up this morning and my phone refreshed the page my $96 cart was $212. My heart sank with disappointment in what might have been!

I just don't understand how Daz hamstrings every male release and then gives the song and dance that males don't sell. Well, of course they don't if you're sabbotaging your own sale! But ours is not to question why, I guess...

Is it possible that they have real-time data on how each sale is proceeding and projections on whether it makes financial sense to extend a sale based on those trends?

This isn't the first time Daz has truncated the promo of a new Base Figure release to end the offer when a major event sale starts. Rather than complain in the forums, which Daz doesn't pay particular attention to, (how could they, realistically? They'd never get anything else done!) why not take the time and trouble to file a trouble ticket to politely voice your opinion? Maybe it won't help, but it couldn't hurt.

They'd planned to end the Diego sale yesterday when the started it Thursday - the coupons all ended yesterday. So maybe they have a scrying ball to see that real-time data?

They certainly have data from previous releases from before Michael 1 and have extended sales when people have asked.  The ticket idea sounds best.
