He's an okay model, but I'm way more excited for the wardrobe outfits that came with his announcement. Those cowboy and matador ones are straight fire.
I don't find the promo renders of Diago 8 do him justice, but I'm very glad I invested in him as find him a useful addition to the gene pool especially when dialed in with other characters. His skin is great (with a little tweaks) and over all Daz have done an excellent job with Diago as they did with Sanjay. The Matador outfit is especially fine and detailed.
I like the character but don’t have use for many of the outfits and not thrilled with the deal, separating freebies into categories and no way to spend the exact amount without going over or under. Also there are some categories where I want several things and others where there’s nothing I need or want. Most likely will wait for a future sale...
Pretty indifferent to the character, but the other G8M base characters he resembles (Christian and Nix) aren't ones I own, and the clothes in and out of the bundle look awesome. Gabor and Rafael are the addon characters that I find most appealing. Plus the freebie section has stuff I do want, although it's hard to maximize one's free content selections without going over the limit. (Pro tip: if you want the eastern dragon, he has a ~$10 pose set in the pose section, and there are free scripts out there to convert the Genesis 2 pose sets in the same section (many of them in the $11-12 range) forward. Can't afford any of it this month though..
While I do like Diego, I am really not a fan of splitting up the freebies in the deal like this. I have a hard time justifying getting a male package in general, as I don't render them very often. The freebies that are typically offered are usually the tipping point for me when I get a male pro package, and the $100 on this one would make Diego a no brainer for me, IF the groups were combined into one instead. The way they are split up, I'm having a hard time finding anything enough I want in each section to actually use the freebie amount for that section without having to drop more money on top of an already high priced purchase (pro bundle and 4 addons, even with the bonus 10% coupon). With the way it's set up this time, I'm not sure I'm going to be picking him up.
Love the Diego's shape and I'm glad to know that his tattoos are separate. I love that Jepe finally jumped back into making male characters. So picked up Jepe's Roderick along with the Starter Bundle and finally picked up Gabriela since her base was on sale and one character skin pack for her. My finished cart was ... dig this... $111.11 LOL
The characters (diego, gabor, matias, roderick, cruz, and rafael) are hot and good looking! Unfortunately, I can't afford them at this time lol. I like the fibermesh beards, brows, and hair (which means it can be applied to another G8 male character).
Wow! He looks hotter in your render than in any of his promos. I agree that the matador outfit is especially well done and kit bashable also.
No purple banner = pass for me, but I did pick up Rafael.
Have you checked your messages? There's sometimes one even without the purple banner...
Yes, if you don't see a banner, make sure to go to your store account home page and check messages there, not the messages area of the forum. I almost missed the discount thinking that I did not have a Diego 8 banner, but I did have a Diego 8 coupon in my store account messages area.
My two cents. I like the character and add-ons enough to purchase the Pro bundle. Kudos to those responsible.

Coupons arrive and we have no way of determining how exactly they are allocated. Never be offended if you don't receive one.

Coupon-palooza today. I had to have a couple of cups of coffee before trying to figure them out. :)
In the end, for me, with 4 add-ons discount (-30%), the $20 free PER CATEGORY, and the extra %10 coupon becuase I've bought almost every other G8 Pro pack, I ended up getting a total of 11 new items for $68. Not too bad at all.
Other coupons provided a couple of free items and the My Flash sale allowed me to clear 5 more off my wishlist.
Well I find the most of the clothing in the pro bundle and in the addon section super. I'm talking of course about the traditional Iberian niche clothing. It seems Diego even got more traditional clothing than Gabriela did. I like then Diego and his cast of characters were matches to Gabriella and her cast of characters. I still can't afford to buy either pro bundle but either I'll be able to sometime in the future or I'll pick off the traditional clothing one by one.
I think the promo renders are far too over lit and it's giving the renders a cheap flat 3DL look to the ad copy.
I agree with the hair being same-samey. It doesn't particularly look like it's tradition hair styles of the Iberian peninsula but these consciously pasted-into-place hair gel messy scruffy styles popular in the media and with the urban hip. Combed straight black hair that Sanjay & Diego are similar? That shouldn't be a surprise, straight black hair is straight black hair. However, the hair is made to look flatter and worse in quality than it actually is by this overbright flattening 3DL effect of the ad copy renders.
I like the base character, he's hot. The alt-version cracks me up, though.
Dforceable leather chaps is an odd artistic choice. Leather is pretty rigid and doesn’t hang like that.
The thing I really like about the Diego offering is that we have three really good morph sets included in the Add-on items. Since I already have a bunch of skins that will pass for latin/hispanic, sets like this put a huge array of new characters into my runtime for a really reasonable price. I should also point out that whiole the 20% off offer from the Meet Your Ambassador add two days ago doesn't stack on the NEW items, it does stack on top of the "free" item categories, so you can get a little more value there, and it also stacks on the Featured Artist items, which get a 30% discount if you buy 4 add ons. Added to the 10% DIego coupon some of us got, and the savings really start to multiply... I'm seeing discount as high as 80%... and easily offset the cost of the two Ambassador items I bought to get the discount.
I always watch for your critique before I buy male stuff. You have a good eye for what works and what doesn't.
Straight Diego EXCEPT: I scaled his eyes down 11% and did a negative eyes puffy to make them look less "droopy" underneath. I did add some of P3D's morph pack to the body tho.

Michael, Edward, Owen, Lucas, Christian, Nix and now Diego - to me, they look like they could be related. All too similar a build IMO
I can't imagine Diego being any other shape than he is, but because so many others have been this shape too...
Almost too many good deals of late (and really too many in the days leading up to a new Daz Original release) means I'm a little tapped out for a PRo bundle purchase short of the end of the month.
Thanks for the render showing how photorealistic he is. Photorealism isn't really joelegecko's interest. Diego 8 has TONS of character, although other than the matador outfit I'm not too excited about the quality of the rest of the Pro Bundle outfits/hairs. P3D's face morphs are excellent-looking, and EmmaAndJordi's promos are the most flattering (as usual) of a Core character.
In the promos he looks like an AlFan creation (dangerously close to caricature) but I can probably alter that with morphs of eye size/shape.

He could definitely have had a stockier build. I don’t think it would have been too taxing to make him at least a little bit more squat without making him look like a scaled-down Brute. Gabriela would have benefitted from the same. There’s a certain body type that’s common among indigenous peoples of the Americas - and, therefore, among the mestizo people of mixed native and European ancestry - that helps distinguish them from other ethnicities. I believe the lack of that body type in Diego and Gabriela is at least a part of why so many people have rejected them as not looking “Latin” enough.
