No Suit for Genesis 8 Female - Grafts will not accept textures (always render white)
Is anybody else experiencing this in DAZ 4.11 Pro?
I've tried applying textures to these grafts, but they always render white...
I've tried both 3Dlight and IRAY...
Any suggestions?

How exactly have you tried applying textures? By clicking presets or by copying to the surfaces in the Surface Tab, because which of those methods is failing could be indicative of a different problem.
Two methods:
First load the figure that comes with No Suit which has the grafts attached.
Go to the scene and select the figure and apply the iray texture.
Next select only the geografts and apply the other iray material (it is the one that the figure looks white and the grafts are red)
Finally, you can go into Surfaces and apply the textures you like since everything is now ready to apply iray shaders and materials.
or
Go and select the geografts
Select the appropriate surfaces in the Surface tab
Apply the default Iray shader from the Daz Studio (Shader Presets/Iray Uber Defaults)
Apply what you like..
I've done this.....multiple times...the surfaces tab shows the surface I want...but it never renders it.
I've tried copying the surface of the face and torso of this character by right clicking and copying and pasting...still looks white....
I went to the IRAY Uber shaders and applied a Chrome texture....no change....ultimately I removed the graft and gave up...
Everything else accepts textures just fine....the character, and the clothing items work great....just not these grafts...they always render white...

Not an iRay chrome texture, try the one called default Iray texture.... May I have you look at the geograft surfaces to see if they are in the iRay format i.e... that they have cutout instead of opacity etc? I would probably reinstall it too since the geograft mat should work on the geografts; note, you can't directly apply the shaders until you apply the geograft mat or the default iRay shader.
The only thing I can see if the UV set seems to be default and not Base Female....but I have no way to change it...it doesn't give me the option in the dropdown....every other setting is the same between the skin texture and the graft...I tried applying the IRAY Uber Base again....still no change

You do have the GeoGraft itself selected?
Yes I do.
I created a primative sphere...and applied the texture to it....
That even renders the correct colors...so it's something about these grafts....
JD
Definitely try a delete and reinstall!
This may be too obvious, but are you applying the material preset for the grafts?
There is a seperate preset for the grafts as there is for the base figure.
(real world issues are keeping me away from my computer so I may be slow responding)
If you have a geoshell on the character then you might have to go to geoshell (surfaces) and turn the opacity down 0, but it looks too white to be that.
Yes I tried that first....and then tried changing the textures manually....
The base texture is the no suit pattern, but looks splotchy....then I copied the skin pattern after ..but no luck...
Does anybody have 4.10 Pro still?
I could swear I did this before in 4.10 and it was fine....
JD
works fine for me here on the latest d/s.
One preset applies the materials to the G8 figure, the second preset applies the materials to the graft....then you can adjust the colour presets after by selecting the specific material zones (but that is after you have applied the materials)
(caught me on lunch break...but i will be out in the real world again for the rest of the day)
OK.... I found a character...that I setup in Studio 4.10 Pro..the texturing onn the grafts worked fine....
But if I try to apply the same texture from that character to the one I just built in Daz 4.11 Pro....It fails...
JD
are you using my no-suit base figure or loading up another character and applying the grafts to that?
I'm using another character and applying the graft to that...
I'll try with the base figure....
JD
OK...I played with your base figure...textures work on that figure...but I did not do this in the past...
I worked with a character I built previously and used your ear grafts, and previously they worked...
I'm also seeing the same issue with the Grafts from the New "CatGirl Megapack" Product.by WillDupre..those ear grafts do the same thing...they also render white...
JD
You really should use the included figure and just dial in the morphs and apply the textures for the other character that you wanted to use. That is the best way to use this set.
If the grafts work with the proper figure they were designed for, then thet are working. They cannot work for one but not for another.
Therefore the problem is likely on the figure you have decided to use instead of the one I included. The first thought is to see if there is any kind of geoshell on that figure you used. If there is, then the shell will also be applying over the grafts and they will look white.
Well that's fine... but it is different behavior than what I experienced before I comitted to Daz version 4.11 Pro...also with reguards to the other product I metioned...the ear grafts are attachments...there is no base character for that, and it exhibits the same behavior.
So while you say your product may be designed to work with your base character alone, it was working fine with the G8 character base before, as I show in my picture.
So I'll just have to find an alternate solution for eliminating character ears, going forward in Daz 4.11 Pro.
Thanks!
JD
but did you check if the character you are trying to use has a geoshell?...to me that is the only thing that makes sense as to why you are getting those results.
I did...
Here is something interesting.....I tried with just a brand new...G8 Female....with the default texture.....That seems to be working....
What I will do is reconstruct the character starting from scratch....I think it doesn't like that the character was saved as a subset previously...
At least it's something I can work with though...a but of a pain...
Thanks for sticking with me....
JD
So starting over from the base G8 female character seems to work...
