Upgraded to Daz 4.11 and now Headshop 11 doesn't show up

I just updated to the latest version of Daz using DIM and now Headshop 11 doesn't show up under the edit tab. It was there under the previous version. I tried reloading it to Program

Files Daz3d and the Headshop Plugin folder is there with all the files but it still doesn't show up in the new version of Daz. Are there some settings that I need to change in Daz 3d?

Have you checked itss tatus in Help>About Installed Plug-ins?

  • Thanks for the quick response. It is not showing up under the installed plugins. The install path is c:/Program Files/Daz3D/HeadShop plugin, the same place as the Carrara8.5 , Daz3DimM1 and DAZStudio4 folders are located. Its the same location that it was previously located in when it was working. Any help is greatly appreciated.

A plug-in will be in the plugons folder in the Daz Studio Application folder (or a sub-folder), as a .dll file (perhaps plus others).

When I upgraded to 4.11, it made a separate install instead of overwritting 4.10.  Oddly, all the other plugs I had were still there except for HeadShop.  With the 4.10 install, I did have similar issues; it was there, then it wasn't.  So I studied the install to other than default section of his notes and installed to 4.11 and it went w/o any problem.  I suspect performing aa new install of HeadShop might resolve the issue.

  • In answer to Richard's comment, in the c:/programs  files/daz3d there is a plugin folder with the .dll file in it. There is also a a folder in C:/ Program Files/Daz 3D  named Headshop Plugin. Should the Headshop Plugin folder be inside the the same folder that the .dll file is in?

  • I also do no longer have Headshop showing since i upgraded. Has there been a fix arranged yet ?

  • Thanks for the answers but I still have no HeadShop, Preferences are set to default. I did send a help ticket to Daz but they directed me to cotact Ah Balone claiming that problems with plugins are the vendor's problem, not a Daz problem. I'm not sure that I buy the argument but at least they got back to me and in the past I've always gotten gotten good solutions from them. I have one other computer running Studio 4.10 so I'll just load it onto that computer until someone comes up with a solution. Because I'm paronoid by nature I have backup copies of the previous versions saved on multiple computers, sticks etc so that I can always reload the old version on my new desktop computer if it comes to that.

Again, thanks to everyone for the suggestions.

  • Sounds like being paranoid is part of the problem:-) You have multiple DAZ Studio installations and have possibley installed HeadShop to the wrong DAZStudio4 folder.

    The Vendor

  • Abalone, I am really impressed. I seldom get a direct response from a vendor on my posts.

Paranoid is a mild term for describing my feelings when I'm having a problem with some part of Daz. I normally use a sledge hammer to crack walnuts. This seemed like a tougher nut so I used a pile driver. Last week I gave my computer a radical Dazsectomy. I used DIM to uninstall the program and then blew out the content library. I then did a search on the C:/ drive  for anything named Daz. There was a lot of stuff floating around. I restarted my computer and did a complete reinstall of Studio 4.11 and all the content. I loaded Faceshop 8 because the best faces that I get are when I use FaceShop 8 with Victoria 4.2, It did not show up in Daz for a day then on Thursday it was there. I have no idea what changed. I did shut the computer down after I loaded FaceShop (the standard fix for everything) so I don't think that restarting the computer had anything to do with it.

Several people have suggested that I might have multiple installations of Daz on my computer. How would I locate them? As I said, I did a complete search of the C:/ drive and didn't find either a second install or .exe file anywhere. I'm old (72) and bought my first computer in 1985 when the first "IBM clones" as they were called., showed up. I worked a lot with spreadsheets and photo editing programs and a little programing programing with Viisual Basic but 3D is a whole different mind set and a lot more fun. It just gets a little frustrating when something that should be straight forward gets really complicated.

I'd be dead without all of the tutorials on the web and this forum so thanks to everyone who gave suggestions.
