G8 Cross-Figure Resources and Geografts?
in The Commons
The description for the Genesis 8 Cross-Figure Resource Kit mentions that it's usable for geografts, albeit in passing. However, I had always been under the impression that the G8 figures, like the G3 ones, differed in vertex order between male and female. Did I assume wrong, or was some way around that issue found for this generations cross-figure stuff? Has anyone tried transfering geografts with the G8 product yet? I'd love to see a screenshot of the results if so.

If the product does indeed make for the possibility of transferring geografts, then I would be very interested. I've ended up ignoring a lot of aliens and monsters in the store because they come in only male or only female, and while I can transfer the basic shapes, I don't want the hassle of having to work out how transferring geografts might work.
From the ReadMe:
Unlike with Genesis 2, this process does not work well on Geo-Grafted items because Genesis 8 Male and Female have different geometry so it is unable to Geo-Graft.
Wel...thats dissappointing
Bizzare that the ReadMe would directly contradict the description. I guess the readme is written by someone that "knows" whereas the marketing description is written by someone that "hopes" for such things, but really has no clue.
I know the geografts did not transfer with the G3 Cross figure product, which made it little more than an alternative autofit, which mostly worked little better than the normal autofit. Without the geograft transfer, I see little reason to buy this product.
The Meshes do differ, but not by much.
1/ Open Daz Studio and set view to wireframe mode.
2/ Load up "Figure->Genesis 8 Male Dev Load" and also "Figure->Genesis 8 Female Dev Load"
3/ Right click the tab for Parameters and make sure "Show Hidden Properties" is ticked.
4/ Select either the Male figure or the Female figure
5/ Within the Parameters Tab go to Hidden->Clones and set the opposite gender clone to 100% (e.g. if you choose Genesis 8 Female then set Hidden->Clones->Genesis 8 Male to 100%)
Now take a look at the 2 geometries, in most areas they are exactly the same. It looks to me that only the chest area differs.
I was hoping the a geographing option within this set would allow anything that isn't on the chest to by switched over.
Can anyone say if this is correct?
How does this resource work? I tried selecting the Genesis 8 male figure and click on "Cross-Figure Setup" from the Scripts section, but I get an error message "You must select a follower with an active XID morph to run this tool." Same happens if I select the clothes from Genesis 8 female. What does it mean by a "follower"? Is there more to this than just selecting the figure and clicking on the script?
The Genesis 8 Cross-Figure Resource Kit ReadMe has a complete procedure (instead of the usual User Guide that was provided with the G3 and G2 version).
Thank you, NorthOf45.
Drat. Well, that's disappointing.
