If you "ordered" it, you can reset it in your My Accounts area. Otherwise you have to contact DAZ to get it. There's no other legitimate route.

DS3 advanced was available free with some magazines and I got it by buying one online and then downloading it and getting the serial from the magazine. As it was online it might still be available as a back issue.

I found the thread in the old forum and can't remember the name of the magazine but will have a look in my stuff to see if I can find it for you.

Found it for you on Zinio look for back issues of Digital Arts and you want the October 2011 back issue which costs £4 plus VAT.

Then you need to create an account at the digital arts online website so you can download the software and you use the serial from the magazine.

    Have fun!

On 3D World #149 you can find a special version of DS 3.X on the companion CD. In 32bit & 64bit , plus MacOX.
It comes with a special serial # on the disk.
Since most back issues are sold out, you will have to go to a reseller.
If you buy a used copy online, make sure you get both the original printed (paper) magazine & companion disk.
You must have the physical magazine to use this software.
Remember, buying or using a digital copy is a violation of DAZ's EULA.

I didn't realise that buying a digital copy was in violation of the EULA so I have been using it illegally?

I bought a copy of the magazine through Zinio which I used to read it and created an account with Digital Arts so honestly thought that it was OK.

Should I uninstall Daz 3 Advanced then?

The Zinio copy is equivalent to the paper edition if it includes the disc, so no you are OK. But I don't think it's possible to sell the digital copy to another person - you'd need to check the terms for that, I've never purchased one that way so I can't do so.

    Thank goodness for that!

How it works is that Zinio provides the magazine part as an digital read and Digital Arts provides the items on the disc as downloads and requires you to have purchased the magazine from Zinio in order to access the content on the disc as a download.

I wasn't offering to resell my copy just telling the op how to get the issue as a back issue and to create an account with digital arts and then they will be able to download the program and use the serial which is in the magazine.

Is this still OK or should I delete my post?

No you are fine. There are restrictions wit re distributing digital content as Nitehawk says, but not when it is done this way. They are licensed only as a package

I got the digital copy installed OK and copied the SN# from the magazine, but when I try to enter the SN# in DAZ the "next" button "greys out" so I can't complete registration and if I try to register online via the link it takes me to a 404.
I'm going to double check the # again.

(I can't use DS4.... yet. It melted my GPU last time and I've only just now got the PC back from the shop).

Try and hit the "Finish" button instead of the "Next" one. I just checked it, since I bought that magazine, too. The SN inside the mag works for me.

I hit the finish button (I went through it several times in fact) but no confirmation, so I still don't know if it worked or not.

As far as I remember, there hasn't been a confirmation for the SN. You can check if your registration was successful under "Help" and "About DAZ Studio...". If it says "Version 3.1.2.32 Advanced Edition" in the upper left you're good to go.

Anyone know of a way to still get DAZ version 3?

I had it, paid for the Advanced version and was using it, but my reinstall isn't working now.  I would prefer to use v3. V4 makes a total mess of my content and I can't use half of it properly anymore.

Hoping someone can direct me to an old post somewhere. I tried the one above, but it was a dead link. :(

If you had originally had a paid for version of Daz Studio then you should still be able to download it from your product Library

It's still in your Product Library. Look for a "DAZ Studio 3.1.2.32 (Inactive)" entry. There you find the installers for Win32, Win64 and Mac.

Absolutely nothing changed as to how Studio maps content libraries between version 3 and version 4.x.  What has changed is the separate Daz Studio Formats and Poser Formats in the Content Library pane.
