Mr. Shang's face

I have a request.
Could someone kindly show us the rendered close-up images (possibly side and front) of Mr. Shang's face without makeup and beard here?
Since all the promotional images are either with makeup or beard (or rather small) in his product page,  it's hard for me to tell how he really look like (therefore I can't decide if I should purchase the product).
Or, no plain face texture included?

What I'd like to know is why this character shows a hair asset as a required product when it doesn't even appear in all the promos smh.

This had happened with a G8F release a while back. Likely intended to be an item used in the promo that got put in the wrong section.

Perhaps the creator has added a cutom fit for that hair product? In that case it will be listed as a required product because you need the hair to make the fit work. But if you just decide not to use that hair, the character will work perfectly fine without it. At least something like that has happened in the past with some of my products.

I wish there was a separate line for "Supported Products" instead of "Required", but right now that's the way it is.

It might also be just a glitch.

Vanilla and strawberry Shang.  Is it just me or does Ms. Shang look like a grown up Josie?

I had no issues with him needing hair. Love the fibermesh brows he comes with. And what is weird is the timing. Yesterday, a friend shared a link to a YouTube for the Mongolian Rock Group 'The Hu' and I fell in love with the music and clothing they used. And then here was Shang. Perfect. I did a couple renders to reflect the vibe I felt from the videos.

Right that has been the coolest thing I've seen for a long time, thanks a ton for pointing those guys out!

BTW I like your renders inspired by them.

Thank you Linwelly. I picked up your tutorial today btw. I am looking forward to going through it.

For me, the new Shang character loads onto ALL G8M Characters... I tested with several characters, including previously saved characters.... you can easily dial out the Shang Head and Body

I wonder what's going on in QA? That's four characters in as many months with the same issue, when there used to be maybe one or two a year, at most. I understand why it happens -- a PA explained that in the Maia thread -- but that doesn't explain why QA is suddenly not catching it.

Note that this one is weirdly tricky. When you add G8M to the scene, and he shows up with Shang dialed in, if you look at "Currently used", you'll see the Shang head and body sliders. You can tinker with those all you want, but it's not going to fix the issue. For some reason, Shang's actual CTRL slider -- his main one that controls both head and body -- doesn't show up when you select Currently Used. That's the one you need to modify to make him stop dialing in until Daz fixes him, and you'll need to search the parameters for Shang to find all of his dials.

(Er ... has anyone filed a ticket on that? I really don't want to, since I've got a couple open already.)

Also (not that this matters), there's an icon for Rossy in the directory path for Shang. Since there's nothing to connect it to (unless you own Rossy), Studio will just ignore it.

In the case of Maia, it was hard for QA to catch it because I was contacted about the control dial including her HD Nipples. After I removed them it was so specific they probably loaded Maia to test that last detail instead of loading a blank Genesis and then her shape separately again, but this time the control was at 100% instead of 0% calling the head and body morphs on the load as described above.

The fault is mine, I never had this issue before, so it didn´t occured to me to do that last test also starting from a blank Genesis. Definitely something I will double check from now on.

No worries Hellboy...It was all I could do not to put the few remaining things of yours I DIDN'T own into the cart without even looking. Excellent work..he's fantastic and will be mine shortly! Thanks so much for the great products. Dolb and Maxx are some of my absolute favorites.

i have the same issue as everybody, just noticed now - Shang has invaded G8M's morphs. omg i see Shang everywhere! XD

well, before i loooked into the forum and found this thread, i was about to just dial Shang down and then re-save G8M with... eeh probably "save modified asset" (i think it's the one - a while a go i messed up myself and had Lucas appear everywhere but it was my fault, and i had to fix it. can't remember the details tho).

on the other hand, i guess the product or whatever will be updated - should i just wait until things have happened on the official side, or just go on with my asset save, at the risk to mess up things even more?

Depends on whether or not you need him now. If you need to do something with him now, then do a search for "Shang" in parameters, find the main control slider, adjust that to 0% from 100% default values, and then save as modified asset. If you can afford to wait, that will also work.

As long as you don't have anything else dialed in, it shouldn't mess anything else up. That said, a lot of people aren't comfortable tinkering with parameters settings, which is entirely understandable.

yeah, i hate fumbling with basic stuff like the genesises or whatever came with an official or PA product i bought... i actually totally forgot about this issue, started a scene, naturally did what you said before i read your post (i mean, slide down to 0%) - and forgot to save the asset cuz i was absorbed with my scene. too exhausted to check right now, droopy bed eyes, but i'm thrilled to see how my G8M/lil scrap boy looks like when i open the scene again - chinese look or not XD

Save Modified Assets will tell you what will be modified before doing anything. I don´t have Shang, but based on what´s been said, just click the gear icon in the main Shang slider (the one that controls both the head and body) and change the default from 100% to 0%.. Then Save modified assets.

Alternatively, you can just open this same CTRL from the data folder in a text editor and change the 100 to 0. The CTRL is just a small text file with a couple of lines since it doesn´t contains any actual shape data. It´s basically the same thing you will see in DS interface except in text. It will be no trouble. laugh

The update for Shang is in DIM now. Found it after I re-opened my computer after lunch. Tested it on G8M, all good.

well seems the issue has been solved - but thx anyways for the exact explanation, might come handy in case i or someone else messes up again ^^
