That is a nice solution, with the tracing paper.
On the other hand, you'll see Wacom users complain that the Huion surface is too smooth!
some texture is good unless you used to painting on glass or similar surface. What would be cool is if it were possible to change the surface with a transparent overlay ... canvas, paper, card stock, etc etc.
I used to do that too. I used regular paper though, tried various until I liked the feel with the nib. There's also a softer replacement surface available from Wacom, never tried it but will probably help with pen wear too.
I use a screen protector called "Like Paper" on my iPad pro, and it has made a big difference. Before, it was hard to write on the glass surface and my writing was illegible. Drawing was harder too. Now the surface has texture and less glare. Works very well. I tried a cheaper brand and it did not work as well for me.
Interesting. I did not know about pen wear. I got some replacement tips with Wacom Bamboo, but have not used any of them, yet.
I have recently watched the documentary about the fashion designer, Karl Lagerfeld.
He was showed up sketching with the markers about his life.
He was wearing gloves on both of his hands.
