G8F Expression recommendations?

Hi,

I've only recently started to transfer to G8F, so I'm still missing lots of expressions compared to my good old G3F collection. Actually I only have few premade expression currently. While I like those power pose tools, where you can fine tune expressions, I was wondering if there's any good HD expression packages for G8F that other users would like to recommend? The reason I'm asking this is, because at least with G3 line quality of those expression morphs was kind of hit-and-miss...

They're rather hit and miss with G8 as well, to the point that I tend to dial in my own expressions.  Perhaps one day when I'm bored I'll try out some basic expressions I use a lot on different figures and see which ones look natural and which look downright spooky.  As it stands the only expression sets that you can 100% count on coming out the way they are promo'd  are the ones done for specific characters.

I've found SimonWM "Expressions & Face Aniblock" series to be consistantly reliable across all the Genesis Generations and his two G8F sets cover a huge range, can be dialed in at almost any level, and have nice large thumbnails on the parameter dials. Besides those, I'd recomend getting RiversoftArt's Expression Mixer https://www.daz3d.com/expression-mixer which lets you alter the intensity of different parts of an expression independently, as well as mix and match elements from different expression packs.

If you've not already got it, the default expression pack at least has the advantage that some character creators create corrective morphs to make them work better on those characters' faces.

The general problem is morphs are purely additive, and cannot themselves compensate for the different shapes of the faces they're on, so as nelsonsmith says, on anything other than their intended character base, no expression will come out 100% identical; a lot of tweaking can be required.

Still, I find G8 expressions a considerable improvement over G3 expressions; it's a big part of why I'm interested in the GenNext script to transfer characters to the newer generation.

If you need to do a bit of tweaking, don't forget the pose dots on the faces of G3 and G8 figures. Select the head, go to the Scene Pane, and open the Head part to see the parts inside. There are two groups, Lower Face Rig and Upper Face Rig, containing a good selection of points on the face you can manipulate with either parameter dials or the Translate Tool. It doesn't work quite the same as expression morphs, so it might take a bit of getting used to, but it's a useful extra tool.

Unique Smiles is very good. The effect looks extreme in the promos, but dialed in at whatever strength best fits a given character's face they're really nice.
