4.11.0.383 -- Not Responding -- Immediately After Opening

Hi everyone,

My System specs are:

  • Windows 10 Pro 64 Bit Version 1803
  • Intel i9-8950HK CPU @ 2.90GHz
  • 64 GB RAM
  • NVIDIA GTX 1080 Studio Driver Version 430.86 specifically for Daz Studio

When I launch the program, it opens, but the Daz Studio windows of the interface do not render anything beyond the default grey color, no scene or other visual feedback that the program is loading anything, and shortly thereafer I get a "Not Responding" from the program toolbar at the top and the program freezes.

I have tried uninstalling NVIDIA drivers that came with my system, and reinstalling the latest NVIDIA Studio Drivers specifically for Daz Studio, and nothing worked. I also tried installing the Game Ready Nvidia Drivers and nothing different.

Also tried installing and uninstalling the 32 bit and 64 bit version of Daz Studio 4.11.0.383, and tried both the manual installers as well as the using the Daz Studio Install Manager. I do not have access to the older versions of Daz Studio either as it has been a few years since I have installed Daz, this is a brand new system with a brand new Daz Studio install.

Tried reaching out to support too, and received no response. Really hoping there is someone who could provide some sort of insight.

Also not receiving any sort of errors at all, so I am not sure how to see what the root cause of the issue is, or if it might be a setting configured withing NVIDIA that I could turn on or off to see if that changes anything.

Any help is greatly appreciated! I really would like to be able to use Daz Studio again.

You could try looking in the log file to see if that gives anything away... 'C:\Users\YourUserName\AppData\Roaming\DAZ 3D\Studio4\log.txt'

4.11 requires the latest drivers, it seems best to go to Nvidia's own site to make sure you get the very latest drivers.

As far as I'm aware the Studio drivers are not specifically for Daz Studio.

I'm running Daz Studio 4.11 fine with the 419 Studio Driver. It is not specifically for Daz Studio, this is what NVIDIA say about the difference between Game Ready and Studio Drivers.

'All NVIDIA drivers provide full features and application support for top games and creative applications.
If you are a gamer who prioritizes day of launch support for the latest games, patches, and DLCs, choose Game Ready Drivers.
If you are a content creator who prioritizes stability and quality for creative workflows including video editing, animation, photography, graphic design, and livestreaming, choose Studio Drivers.'

@scorpio "4.11 requires the latest drivers,"

That's not true. 4.11 Release requires Nvidia driver 418.81 or newer, not "the latest".

Thanks to everyone who responded! This is helpfu but still no solutionl. From the NVIDIA geforce.com site, there is only one version of the Studio Driver and that is 430.86 which came out in May. The page for the 430.86 driver found here https://www.geforce.com/drivers/results/147972 is quoted to say specifically Daz 3d Studio:

    Applications
Provides the optimal experience for the latest releases of top creative apps, including Autodesk Maya 2019, 3ds Max 2020, Arnold 5.3.1.0, Blackmagic Design DaVinci Resolve 16, and Daz 3D Daz Studio.

I also tried the 419.67 driver which came out in March and that is listed with the Studio Driver but is actually called the "NVIDIA Creator Ready Driver", I am receiving the same issues with that driver too.

You could try looking in the log file to see if that gives anything away... 'C:\Users\YourUserName\AppData\Roaming\DAZ 3D\Studio4\log.txt'

I am going to post the log file immediately after posting this. I see a couple warning and error in the file but nothing that provides clear feedback on how I could resolve this myself. It appears the 3DConnexion Plug-in errir caused a 3D mouse support library to not be loaded. There is also two warnings of paths that could not be added "Due to unknown error". Curious if you see anything that might help?

  • Well the file was too long to post here, so I am attaching the log.txt file directly

Warning don't matter, I get the same ones.
This is the last thing added to the log each time it hangs

    'Compiling OpenGL Shader...'

So that's what's making Daz Studio lock up, it cannot finish doing that, lets see what Google says.

    EDIT
    Mmm, not much so far.

  • Oh, I also tried the 418.91 drivers and am encountering the same exact issues

I can't find anything of any use but obviously something is corrupted.
I would suggest you uninstall Daz Studio and then delete the Daz Studio directories to force a clean install before you reinstall.
      C:\Program Files\DAZ 3D\DazStudio4
      C:\Users\YourUserName\AppData\Roaming\DAZ 3D\
Assuming you haven't installed Daz in custom directories of course.
    Good luck
    Steve.
