Has anybody else had this problem? I updated Daz and now when I go to render, all I get if the 'checkerboard'. It's simply refusing to render. Any idea what's causing this or how to fix it? I'm pretty frustrated and upset at the moment.

It sounds like you need to update your Nvidia drivers. I had the exact same issue and updating to the v418.81 drivers fixed it for me. I believe that's the oldest drivers that work with the new Iray engine, and they are working in my system. You may need a more recent driver, depending on which card(s) you have installed. (I have an "old" GTX 1080.)
That's clearly part of it, though updating the driver didn't help as it seems I already had the best one in there. I'll have to keep playing around. I wish I hadn't updated. Any way to roll it back?
Only the latest version is available for download, so you can't downgrade unless you kept a copy of the previous installer.
You can try contacting Daz support but there's no guarantee they can give you the previous version.
I've been getting that since the last Beta went Live - I never reported it (and probably should have) so now I am getting that on the first render in the Release and Beta, second render works, unless I have new strand-based deforce hair in the scene - then it drops to CPU. I'm sure I have seen others say that are getting the checkerbox render as well.
Just to be clear, the "checkerbox in the render window is indicating where nothing exists. If you render just a figure, for example, with out a background, (this is also true in 3Delight, so not just with Draw Dome Off,) you will see the checkboard in the render window. If you save the render as a png or a tif image, that area will be transparent when you bring the image into an image editor.
So what you are seeing is DS rendering nothing.
@greatdarkspot_212623417d, I should have asked you what video card are you using. If the card is quite old, there is the possibility that Nvidia isn't supporting it anymore. It is also possible, with newer cards, that the bleeding edge stuff in the latest driver is causing an issue. (I never use the latest Nvidia driver as I'm not into gaming, and I've always worried the tweaks to support gaming would cause trouble with rendering.)
I recommend trying the next older driver. See if that helps. If not, you could try contacting Nvidia support and see what they have to say. And I'd also recommend filing a trouble ticket with Daz, not only explaining 4.11 isn't working with your system, but including a comprehensive list of the hardware in your computer. Maybe there's nothing that the developers can do, or maybe having the information will help them fix an issue no one knew existed. Worst case, it won't help, but it won't hurt either.
I upgraded to 4.11 on Saturday and also updated my NVidia driver to 430.86. I have had no problems rendering on my 1080... So far!
Cheers,
Alex.
Gaaa, I hate this. I'm not the world's most technical person and troubleshooting this sort of crap takes hours and hours for me. I'm on a laptop which is not more than a couple of years old, so things really shouldn't be obsolete. My video card - if I am looking at the right thing, simply says 'NVIDIA Virtual Autio Device (Wave Extensible) (WDM)' In Daz it reads as 'GeForce 940MX'. I'm really lost at sea, here. Things will render if I get the CPU to handle it, but of course, that's slower than the second coming of Christ.
@greatdarkspot_212623417d " updating the driver didn't help as it seems I already had the best one in there"
What exactly do you mean. If you got the driver through the Windows device manager, that was a mistake. You need to get the driver from the Nvidia website. You need Version 418.81 or newer.
Thank you. I went to the Nvidia website and got the latest driver and that did the trick. I would never have figured that out by myself.
NEVER trust MS to give you the most current (or even correct) drivers. LOL
Glad you got it working.

If you are running Windows 10, bear in mind that you may have to reinstall the Nvidia driver after a Windows update.
