What happened to the people who run 9mbi? I tried contacting them but I never got a response.

As far as I could ever find out they've simply moved on to other interests and left their store on some form of 'auto-pilot'.

Price is what you see; there are no specials given via the contact them scenario.

I guess as long as the "choose/pay/receive" continues to work ...

    Greetings,
Just to note, with the improvements in AutoFit and the SRMS, some of those dress packs are EXCELLENT deals for Genesis/G2F users...

But yeah, the store is totally running on autopilot. I imagine a box in a server closet someplace, paying its bills every month with the money folks pay for items, and just...keeping on going until the hardware fails. I idly wondered if the folks who ran it died, or something, but...who knows.

p.s. And as you might imagine, my avatar uses their fox...sadly the ONLY fox out there, apparently. MilDog2 PLZ?

There are other foxes, but maybe for Poser only. Lyne has a lot of free animals, but they are older models, and the fox is based on the Poser wolf, so you need Poser to use it.

There's a good fox at Content Paradise, but it uses dynamic fur. I don't think there's a transmapped fur option. The dynamic fur looks very nice, though.

Actually no, it's the Poser wolf one needs and it is sold at Daz3d and on sale atm: http://www.daz3d.com/wild/wolf

As I recall had to do a little creative thinking to get the files working but they will work.

    Thanks, good to know.

According to the description, they are the same model. The wolf sold in the DAZ store is the same one that comes with Poser. (DAZ is a spinoff of the company that originally created Poser, so many of the older DAZ models share mesh with the older Poser content, but I hadn't realized any were exactly the same.)

I really love Lyne's work, and actually paid for many of the items she is now giving away free. They are older models, but many of them are still excellent.

I particularly like the things she made for the MilCat. Her free textures (based on her own cats) are, IMO, better than the ones DAZ sells. More realistic looking. And the wildcat pack is fantastic. Terrific morphs and textures, to turn the Millennium Cat into a jaguar, ocelot, bobcat, etc.

So I can buy the stuff from them but expect no support and only as long as they still exist. Right?

Yep! I haven't read of anyone who's gotten a response from them in the last year-ish.

I wish I could bust out a render using some of their stuff (other than my friendly avatar over there) but my machine is tied up in an epic 134-hours-so-far (81%) render.

Given the lack of support, it could be cheaper, but for example right now, they have a space-shuttle for $2.50 which is a decent fire-and-forget purchase. So are some of the dress packs. And I've never had any skanky charges to my credit card or anything.

I was trying to see if there was any way to contract them now the site is down, again. There were a few items still on my wishlist I really wanted. :(

Saw some items of theirs for sale over at Turbosquid ... could try reaching somebody via Turbosquid.

Turbosquid still exists? Wow, I wonder if my password manager still has that one...

    Do tell!

Whatcha working on, how complex is it, and what kind of hardware are you using?

if it was not for Turbosquid I never would have taken up Blender and learned to do it myself. It's like ordering the most expensive lobster from the most expensive sea.

I have some of 9M's stuff still in my runtime, their prices are cheap, but for the most part it works in DS4.6 and their modeling skills make it well worth it. Poser has retained a lot of it's core functionality so if you're a poser user 9M's stuff might be a little more stable for your needs.

It was In Her Workroom and it was mainly because of refraction, crazy high render settings, a ton of stuff in the scene, at 2048 x 2340. I honestly don't recall which machine I did it on. :red:

It was probably my Core 2 Duo 2.8Ghz (8GB RAM) laptop.

As for 9mbi.com, sadly it seems to have expired. I'm guessing that they had it paying its hosting bills, but didn't think to pay its domain name through the same account. :)

I remember a post on a long gone forum from one of the 9mbi folks that he/she/they had had it with rampant piracy and just gave up.

They aren't the only ones driven out of the hobby by pirates.

So wait, other people can actually find/see their store? I get a "server not found" error.  Can somebody PM me the working link?  Google is unhelpful.

Doesn't AM have a package of foxes. With LAMH presets, iirc.

No, I think the site is long gone now, Sickleyield. As Charlie said, there are a few of their things at Turbosquid, and there are a few more at VanishingPoint, but most of their clothing content seems no longer to be available.

Does that mean I have to rebuy the stuff I already bought before? I think I lost all my downloads to that place.

Why did someone necro a three year old thread? This should be locked like the previous ones.
