Anyone use the dForce Long Hoodie For Genesis 8 Female?

I just bought the Long Hoodie, and went to load it into my scene ... but ... I don't know what to load or what the 'support' file is for.

What is the cube labeled LH HoodieSupport for and what's the difference between the Long Hoodie! and Long Hoodie (no exclamation point)?

I looked and there doesn't seem to be a readme file, either.

Another related question ... With dynamic clothing, I could drape a garment on almost any figure. Is that possible with dforce clothing? Also, why can't I send this hoodie to hex and turn it into a prop like I've done with other dforce items?

I don't have this specific item, so not sure on some of the specifics. If you check the product readme, does it list both versions of the file? If there were updates, some times I have had duplicate files because the name has changed. Otherwise sometimes dforce items are getting packaged to also include a version without dforce applied that just behaves like conforming clothing, but from the file name alone that isn't clear in this case unless there is more information in the tip image.

If you list the clothing without selecting a figure, it won't try to fit to anything, and then you could scale and position it over other figures and simulate to use on other figures. In some products, if the dynamic surface is set up so that most of the item does not simulate, this may not work out of the box and may require editing or removing the dynamics mapping or adjusting surface settings.

Not sure why you wouldn't be able to edit this in Hexagon, what issue are you having?

There is no readme file or tip image I can find.

That's how I tend to load all dynamics because I still use V4 and a lot of drapable clothes are made for later figures. But this one is being particularly confusing. As to the rest of the statement, I'm not familiar enough with dforce yet to understand what you are saying other than loading the garment by itself, not fitted to a figure.

When I send it to Hexagon, the interface window looks empty until I click on where it should be, then I see a sort of shadow of the garment. Then when I export it back to Daz, which automatically turns it into a prop, it loads into daz as invisible. I can see it under the scene tab, but not in the viewer.

I was looking here http://docs.daz3d.com/doku.php/public/read_me/index/52987/file_list it does list the two files though. When you double click the support icon does anything happen? Normally I expect things like that to open a document or link to a site, but there is no obvious additional document in the readme list. Sometimes they open an in-program window with text too.

I double clicked on 'LH Hoodie support', with the cube image, something invisible loads into the scene, but I have no clue what it's supposed to do. Though it looks like it would be perfect for my needs, if I don't figure it out today I'll have to return it.

If you select the loaded item and look at its Simulation group in the Parameters pane you will see that it is a dForce Add-on - an extra, non-rendering model to literally support the main item (to which it needs to be fitted). If you load the plain hoodie and the hoodie with the support (which you can do with the Wearables preset) and simulate you will find that the former drapes more closely to the body. This is a feature that has not been that clearly explained in general, unless some more info has been posted.

Just to add, if you switch the Viewport to a wireframe mode and hide the hoodie you will see the Hoodie Support, it goes around the bottom and around the hood opening.

Well ... All of that was way too confusing for me to even think about trying, lol. So I cheated and used DCC to drape it and I think it works perfectly for my needs. :) I can't say how because Daz won't like it, but it also means I'm not returning the product and can continue to buy dforce items, so maybe they'll be more forgiving of it now.

I also bought the dforce presets tool, so still plan to use that, but this hoodie was just too confusing the way it came.

Now I need to figure out how to keep the string in place while draping.

If you load the wearables preset you don't need to do anything, it's already there and ready to work.
