So, last year, Victoria 8 had a huge birthday sale. And, she's honored with another birthday sale this year!
Poor Michael 8, on the other hand, didn't even get a mention last year. Let alone a sale.
Michael 8 was released on 8/22/2017 btw, according to his Product Information page.

Belated BDay wishes to Mike from Vic
Anyways, even though Michael 8 sometimes is seemingly treated as the unwanted stepchild that some people may forget about at times, I still remember when his birthday is!
Looking forward to your second birthday Michael 8! And if you get overlooked again, well I won't forget you!

That's very kind of you! Poor Michael needs some love, too.
They are waiting for his 20th anniversary.
..yeah, they are celebrating Vicky's B'day today, but I've never seen the same for Mike.
At the same time, neither Stephanie nor Aiko got a birthday party.
Victoria is the first figure of DAZ, she's their ambassador when Michael is only her assistant.
Well, if the sale was for Victoria 1's birthday, aka 'Millie', then according to Wikipedia it would be in February..
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Victoria_(3D_figure)
That was 20 years ago, or 1999, so we should have had a 20th anniversary sale for her at that...Of course, that may be back when Zygote owned the figures...
As for Michael 1, the Wiki says he was released concurrently.
According to the Daz database, Millenium Man Michael 1 was released on 1/1/2000, while Millenium Woman Victoria 1, aka 'Millie', was released on 5/30/2001.

So if the Daz product database is to be believed, Michael came first. Michael 1 is Product ID 3, whereas Victoria 1 is Product ID 85...
In any case, I'm only focusing on the 'Genesis 8' figures, and when they were released. Last year's sale was for Victoria 8, and while this year's sale just says 'Victoria', Vic 8 was released on 6/15, so this sale is only a couple of weeks off. If we were being exact, going by Daz's listed date for Victoria 1, the Vic sale is 2 days late.
Anyways, I'm sure some of the longtime veterans can fill in the dates and backstories involved here more accurately. But my understanding is that Victoria and Michaal were released more or less concurrently, which would make since since their base figures were originally created for medical anatomy purposes. Zygote is still doing medical anatomy figures BTW, although Daz Studio isn't listed in the programs that can use their figures list.
On a related note, I did see a mention about the 'boys' essentially being morphs of the girls back then, particularly for the Millenium Youths.
Here's a fascinating interview with Chris Creek, one of the original founders of Daz3D, who has since moved on to other things:

I wasn't aware that the Salt Lake Comicon guy, Dan Farr, was one of the founders of Daz3D. You learn something new everyday!
But I digress. If Victoria gets birthday sales, so should Micheal! Both came first. As for Aiko, Steph, etc. well if they have an UNBROKEN chain from the Millenium days, by all means they should get birthday sales too!
Disclaimer. I love Aiko. Don't be mad at me Aiko!
They can't gift us all those characters each time xD
I'm happy for today's gifts! :D
Well, we the fans of Michael 8 can certainly make a big hullaballoo about his birthday. He may not get the big flashy birthday Victoria gets from those in the Daz Ivory Tower, but there is no reason why we can't celebrate it ourselves.....with punch and pie? (OK, this is not going as well as I expected)
Hey, @empty. Good to see you in the forums again! By the way, you really should check your PMs. I left you a message back in February… Here's a link to your inbox.
michael is the "poor ken", aways just a shadow for barbie and even removed for a new one, in this case just a shadow for victoria.
...Who’s this Michael guy y’all keep talking about?
Was there any birthday celebration at all? if so, when was that?
Michael and Victoria were sort of the "Adam and Eve" of the more advances characters, so to speak, so it's only fair if Michael gets a birthday. However, Stephanie and Aiko came along later and weren't ushering in a new generation of characters. Michael and Vickie are also the ones that many of the PAs design new characters off of. Michael and Victoria were the originals.
I don't know if anyone else remembers this, but the very first Michael was designed off of DAZ founder, Dan Farr's actual face. Some people who met Dan in person thought it was a little freaky seeing a real live Michael. They apparently did a 3D scan of Dan's face for it.
Same as Game of Thrones, Cersei was a queen and Jaime was her servant, Daenerys was a queen and Jon was her servant, Yara was a queen and Theon was her servant ...
That is the Girl Power
They are products, so in some respects: I don't care.
... However, marketting loves an excuse to market. :) And I like the latest V8 figure more than any previous. The look is more regular, yet still attractive; I konw others disagree, and have posted about it... But I digress.
Daz should celebrate whatver feels right in their product line. Victoria is perhaps almost iconic, I'm not so sure the same can be said for the others. I certainly wouldn't recognise derivatives.
I was just going through a bunch of G8 starter bundles and marking them 'hide this product from listings' since I already have the associated Pro Bundles, and I noticed M8, which made me think of this thread.
1 more day until Michael 8's Birthday! I'm pretty sure I have a pie or two in my 3D Library... may need to track down a punch bowl though!
Edit: I DO have a punch bowl! One was included in this product:
https://www.daz3d.com/dance-party-room
A copule of other products have them too, such as the High School Prom props. Just google 'Punch Bowl Daz3D' for options if you want to double check real quick if you have one. A product search inside of Daz may do the trick too, if you have Daz up and running.
Another notable find, if you are looking for a freebie:

I wasn't aware that AoA had his/her own website...
I didn't/don't like Michael 8's face. He looks like a dweeb (mostly his mouth, but also the goofball expressions I often see on him). AllenArt, I think (forgive me if I'm mistaken), fixed his face and made a freebie called some variation of "Michael." If I need a dweeb or a dufus, then Michael 8's the guy, but otherwise I avoid him. Michaels 5, 6, & 7 bring it. They are THE men. But, unfortunately, Daz decided not to give us a super handsome Michael this generation.
Nonetheless, happy birthday, you unsexy devil, you!
LOL it wasn't me, no (though I have the same complaint with Michael 8's mouth).
Laurie
A slight bit early, but since I might be distracted by new sales after Daz Midnight...
Mike 4 seems to be pondering something... the pie maybe?
Anyways, happy Anniversary/BDay/Whatever Mike 8!
