Render Time with 4.11.0.366

I have been trying 4.11.0.366 for a couple of weeks. I was quite happy with it until I tried rendering.

As an example, I have a scene subset based on G3F Dewi with only hair added, some morphs changed, and no background, floor, nothing. No lights added. A standing figure with render settings at 640x1920, ie 3 to 1 ratio height to width. I do a lot of "character introduction" renders like this.

To render it in 4.10.0.123 took 2 minutes 15 seconds.

To render exactly the same figure with exactly the same render settings in 4.11.0.366 took 23 minutes 15 seconds.

TEN TIMES AS LONG.

What am I missing here?

I do not have issues with render times in DS 4.11

Did you update your video drivers?

Did you double check your render settings settings across both versions of DS including the Advanced settings tab?

That sounds like the render dropped to CPU.

I use 4.11 exclusively and it is faster than 4.10. Particularly if you use the denoiser.

I've been rendering in 4.11 on an RTX2080Ti and once the initial nVidia drivers version debacle was sorted out I have absolutely no complaints.  Might want to check your drivers and make sure it is rendering via Iray to your video card, not CPU as kenshaw011267 pointed out.  Good luck! If it isn't better than 4.10 then there is probably something not right that can be fixed.  Don't give up on 4.11 just yet!

Actually, the beta can be slower. This has been observed by me personally and several others. But it depends on how the scene is created. Some scenes are indeed faster.

But in your case, it looks pretty clear to me that it fell to CPU mode instead. This could be a whole different issue. Check your help log file for errors. Make sure you have other programs and renders closed and restart Daz Studio to see if that helps. Maybe even restart your PC. If it still persists, you may need to contact Daz Support about the issue.

And double check that the GPU is indeed being used as the render device in Iray settings. If you just installed the beta some settings may not have set up correctly.

Also, what are your specs? I read that Kepler GPUs (the 600 and 700 series) can have problems with the current build of Iray, dropping to CPU mode.

It's been explained to me that the Beta can be slowly because Iray was updated to be more accurate (although I can't spot any visual difference). In my tests, it has been on average 30% slower to render. However, the software itself is more stable, I'd say.
