Tell my your "aging pretty" secrets please

Hi,

I own the aging morphs by Zev0, but I find it hard to do a believable elder (like mid 30, older is easier imo) character with a given skin like G3F base.

So what do you do to create a mid 30 charater, are there certain character (people/ HD) morphs you dial in ?

Example renders would be really appriciated, but, with the Raiya Jeanne (unmodified) skin as a reference please :)

Thank you very much

Alexandra 8 (and related characters) is often quite useful for this dialed in at a modest percentage, as she's obviously done a good job of aging well.

You will however find that trying to stick to specific textures will make this a lot harder, as a lot of aging is in the skin details. Use of less airbrushed skins (or Skin Builder) is pretty key for someone who's supposed to have a few (but not too many) years on the clock.

@Matt_Castle,thank you very much, SB is already on my wishlist for other reasons :)

@zombietaggerung "elder" in this case = older than the usual <= 20 character :)

Wasn't aware that there are so much HD morphs in the DAZ G3F face morph pack, played around and the result is not that bad (at least imo), not going for ultra realistic winkles...

She looks closer to 50 than mid 30s. May I recommend these: https://www.daz3d.com/cb-liliana-for-genesis-3-and-8-female https://www.daz3d.com/clarke-for-genesis-3-and-8-female Or even Rune 7 or Ophelia 7. They IMO, look closer to mid 30s.

Don't worry, when I was a little boy, I considered my best friend's 10 year old sister an elder. I wasn't taught that but she looked giant and adult to me as did adults so she was really old and I'd better listen when she said something. LOL. And the only time I have felt over the hill was when I turned from 19 to 20, but ever since I turned 20 I knew I wasn't someone the hipsters wanted to hold up as an example of cool so it's been all pay them no mind since then. It's like when my my mom and aunt talking once about how what if someone asked if their age were 85 instead of their real age of 83 and I had to say, people don't just look at someone and think, "Oh, they are 83 years, 3 months, 5 days, 7 hours, 43 minutes, and 10 seconds old, what they just think that is child, adult (includes most adult looking teens), middle aged, or old. The lines are blurred with hair dye & such. It's not a big deal unless you want to do adult activities and legally can't.

It's actually not hard to get the DAZ Originals core characters to look convincing 35+ years, male or female, because they are modeled with such low body fat percentages already, their body and faces are so raw boned that they already look to be 35+ years old. So use those & just take the face diffuse texture, copy it, convert it to gray scale, color it to look like a cutout opacity map, then look at example displacement maps from other DAZ products and add a few very light crow's feet, few forehead wrinkles, & light labial fold lines and put into the Surfaces displacement location.

If you want a younger adult I suggest starting with G8M & G8F basic and judicious use of the DAZ Originals Head & Body morph products. Also, if you need different skin material sets once you pick the one you'll want to be using you'll want to remove the normal, bump, and displacement maps, if those are included, with the skin materials as those usually will make them look gaunt and older.

I know what you're going through.  For the longest time I've been dismayed by the fact that Aging Morphs tend to go from zero to 100 with no inbetween.  Of course it's much easier if you have a base model already sculpted to be older than the normal figure, and fortunately Daz over the years has finally started adding more mature figures that don't look "elderly" but actually mature as in the 30 to 40 range.  I've been trying, but I still don't have it down yet.

I mean where is the equivalent of a Helen Mirren, or a Monica Bellucci type figure;  a woman who is obviously older, but still has maintained her looks?

Genevieve, Monika and Satine, all for G3F, are probably the best takes on "not-so-young, still attractive woman" that I personally have seen. I like Alexandra 8 for her skin and personality, and the characters based off her tend to be rather pretty (and the Alexandra based elf-character Briallen comes off as both pretty and not especially young), but I don't know if I'd call Alexandra herself conventionally attractive.

I had some DIY experiments with V4, that involved using age morph dials dialled only partially up, paired with whatever skin I could find that didn't look college-aged, and whatever morph I was drawn to that day. They turned out okay, IIRC, but it's been years.

Yeah, I've used Alexandra 8 a lot as a base figure for older women characters, she can work pretty well.  The thing a lot of people forget is that the signs of aging aren't just a matter of wrinkles but also the appearance of the skin itself.
