Iray Shadow Catcher/Matte with Emissives

Anyone figured out how to get the Iray matte shadow catcher working with emissive lights? It works fine with directional lights and environmentals, but I can't get a shadow with emissives.

I noticed there's a shadow canvas option with Interactive mode, and I was hoping maybe that would give me enough of a shadow to make do as a shadow pass, but I can't seem to get that to work either.

Thanks.

Did you apply the Iray node properties to the emissive object also? They both need to have matte enabled for one to cast shadows on the other.

Ahhh, okay, thanks. That did it.

And it looks like the alpha channel of the rendered image (no canvases needed) contains an alpha mask for the object as well as an mask for the shadow, with max shadow being white (1).

A bit of a head-scratcher, but I suppose it all works if you can keep good notes...

    Thanks again.

Okay, now it's working fine. Here's a demo showing a simple render over a background foto, including the shadows. I added a bit of environment light, plus most lighting from an overhead emissive plane, and did a Grade on the shadow/alpha channel to darken and lighten the shadow in realtime. And moved the image around a bit with a Transform.
