Outfit cut

aughtaught Posts: 0

I have clothes from breasrplate and a skirt.
I do not need the lower part, only the top.
Is it possible to remove extra polygons in Daz, will it affect texters and UV maps?
Of course, I can edit in 3D Max, but ... but, well, to hell, better find a new breastplate or draw it myself. But suddenly there is an easier way to cut off some of the clothes in the daz itself.

This is outfit I want to  change (Minerva Dress), I don't need skirt and belt on top.

I need a female breastplate, but not much covering the chest (advanced armor-bra). This is supposed to be erotic.

I'm new here, thank you for your attention.

You can probably just make the surfaces transparent, but you could use the Geoemtry Editor tool to select by surface (or soem other way - but the Tool Settings pane gives you a list of existing groups which you can use to select by clicking the + button), then right-click>Geometry Visibility>Hide Seelcted, right-click>Geometry Editing>Delete Hidden.

To remove the unwanted skirt and belt, you'll need to use the Geometry Editor Tool. You will also want to have the Tool Settings pane open. (I keep it docked to the right column, as it gives access to settings for all the Tools.)

    Here ya' go:

    1. Open Daz Studio, (or save your scene and start a New one.)
    2. In the main menu, go to Window->Panes (Tabs) and select Tool Settings. (Move to the side or dock it to a column, so you can see the viewport and the Pane at the same time.
    3. In the main menu, go to Tools and select Geometry Editor.
    4. Load the Minerva Dress and select.
    5. At this point, it's a good idea to save the scene.
    6. In the Tool Settings Pane, Collapse/Expand Face Groups, Surfaces, and Regions so that only Surfaces is expanded.
      • Notice all of the material zones for the dress are listed, with a "+", "-", Eye Icon, and Poly Count on each line.
    7. Click on the Eye Icon for the Skirt. This hides all 29283 polygons of the skirt.
    8. Click on the Eye Icon for the HipStrap.
    9. If there is anything else you'd like to remove, Click on the Eye Icon for that as well.
    10. When the Dress looks the way you want it to look, everything hidden that you want to remove
      • Right-click in the viewport and in the resulting popup menu, select Geometry Editing->Delete Hidden Polygon(s)
      • A message will popup, asking if you want to continue. Click on Yes.

At this point, you can save this scene to be merged with the primary scene.

You're welcome. I hope you'll post the finish image, too. You've got me curious!

Hey L'Adair, Thank you for the Mini-Tutorial. Will definitely try out myself on other objects.
