Getting Historical Masonry Shaders to work in Iray

I bought these shaders: https://www.daz3d.com/historical-masonry-daz-studio-shaders-vol-2 knowing that they're not Iray and expecting to have to tweak them (I never use 3Delight).

But so far, nothing I've tried produces any effect except to turn the surface a pale grey. At $2 in today's "Platinum Grab Bag" sale they're hardly worth returning for a refund, and besides, they're not defective. I'd rather get some use out of them, if that's possible. This product has been around for a long time, so I'm hoping someone else has found a way to use it in Iray.

Make sure the material zone is selected.
    Apply the shader preset.
Then apply the "!Iray Uber Base" preset.
    - Shader presets
        - Iray
             - DAZ Uber
                  - !Iray Uber Base

Setting this on top of a 3Delight material usualy makes it render decent.

Yes, that's the usual method, but for some reason it doesn't work on these shaders. A bit of a head-scratcher.

The standard presets use displacement, which works very differently in 3DL and Iray. 3DL uses micro displacement, Iray can only use the vertices from the original mesh so you need a high res mesh or to subdivide it.

Those shaders don't use the default standard 3Delight shaders, so translating them automatically to Iray will be a problem. You might be able to insert individual bitmaps into the appropriate channels in an Iray shader. Have a sample primitive with the shader you want to apply to locate which files are being used (you might need to open the shader mixer to locate some of them). Base colour, displacement, normals, etc, should be straightforward, but there could be some fancy tricks that were used that might need some consideration.

Thanks for the info, and the suggestions. It looks as if getting these to work in Iray would be more trouble than it's worth to me, so I'll probably just uninstall and write 'em off...unless I get a sudden urge to start using 3Delight. wink
