What a day for learning

Wow. What a day for learning. Got some good financial news yesterday & did what anyone would do; went shopping.
I picked up IDG dForce - Ponchos & Tabards http://docs.daz3d.com/doku.php/public/read_me/index/49675/start and was a bit confused how to use. I've only recently been able to do dForce sims (new system) so most wardrobe items haven't been an issue; just select the figure & add the wardrobe.
But these are props and wasn't sure how to use them.
Another item I picked up was Dark Skin Merchant Resource for Genesis 8 Female(s) https://www.daz3d.com/dark-skin-merchant-resource-for-genesis-8-females
Didn't really read the details before adding to cart, but turns they're simply textures & not an actual Material preset. OK. No Prob. Was easy enough to make my own now. Probably do some refinement tweeks later but not bad for a first stab.
The Ponchos threw me as I kept trying to add them as a wardrobe item & DS was having none of that. Took a break, had some lunch & it dawned on me that this wasn't any different than the cloth on the sphere tutorial & approached it that way. After some fiddling & some tests, finally got the gist. Thought I'd try something a bit more complex pose wise and well, I'm pleased. This is just the enviro lighting from an 8K HDR from HDR Haven.

Not unhappy at all. Just wish vendors would realize that they shouldn't assume that everything is obvious, & that they really should spend some time on documentation of THEIR product if they're interested in sales at all.
Gee, why not a short care & feeding video with the product description?
I've gotten a couple products of late that it was painfully obvious that no one actually tested it in a real world, customer purchased environment to see if it actually worked as described. Not a peep from vendor or Tech Support. Didn't matter, I wasn't going to use them in Daz anyway.
That being said, having to spend a little time to figure out the basics of dForce was a plus. Looking forward to exploring the details now.
Hello,
It looks like you got the ponchos and tabbards sorted out, but please PM me directly if you still have questions and I will walk you through it. Typically support of this nature is handled by support tickets through Daz, but I'm happy to assist. I understand the confusion that can be caused by props that look like clothing, versus figure specific wearabale clothing items. We thought we coverd this discrepency in the documentation, which won't help you at all if the documentation has gone missing. We definately did a user's guide, but we are not sure where that landed in the final installer, or if it was perhaps inadvertently left out completely. We purposely made these items as props to be used on any figure, and not clothing items tied to a specific figure to increase versatility. Approaching it like the cloth on sphere tutorial was the correct thing to do. Thanks for the feedback.
cheers!
Excellent. Thanks. Truly appreciate that.
Still having the occassional oddness with Daz & DIM & new Win10 system, so quite possible the docs are somewhere. I think just playing around & studying dForce more will be of the best benefit. Haven't even started in on Marvelous Designer yet. Picket it up when they had a sale a couple months back as it's just one of those things you know your gonna need/want eventually.
Awesome. Please post more renders if you get them. We always love seeing our work used by others.
I'm still sorting out bits 'n pieces that need to be reinstalled on new sys but finally got a bit of time to play today. This is a test with PHX Ohanzi sporting one of your Ponchos.
Looking good! Thanks for sharing.
